The Kremnica Mint (Slovak: Mincovňa Kremnica) is a state-owned mint situated in Kremnica, Slovakia. The predecessor of current Mincovňa Kremnica, š. p. (štátny podnik = state company) was established in 1328, and for nearly seven centuries it has continuously been producing mint articles.HistoryKremnica Mint was established in 1328 when Kremnica was promoted to a free royal town by the Hungarian King Charles Robert of Anjou; the mint issued several kinds of coins early on, of which the most successful was its ducat. Kremnica ducats were well-known because of their good quality and were considered the hardest currency in Central Europe. Available historical records report that 21.5 million ducats were minted at the Kremnica Mint throughout its history. The aggregate value of this amount, measured at today's prices of gold, would be three billion US dollars (exclusive of the numismatic value). The mint became very outdated by the beginning of the 20th century, and many called for new equipment and for the mint to be moved to Budapest. However, this did not happen until the end of World War I. As the Czech troops invaded Northern Hungary, the Károlyi government ordered to move the equipment and noble metal stock to Budapest. The Hungarian Government started to mint the first coins with the faulty machines and worn-out dies in Csepel. Even coins minted in 1922 bore the KB mint mark.

  • Finely crafted cross section of currencies from the beginnings to the present day, the Exchange store in the historical periods of the territory, which has been managed by the various monarchs. Part of it is the exposure of the medals, in all its history. Under the building is also had exposure to banníctva, as mined gold, its processing. On the yard there is an exhibition of mining equipment and machinery. Input was only full hour during business hours. Under the NB. The exposure I needed 4 hours, but no longer, so I'm closing all neabsolvovval.

  • During our visit, we decided to look into the oldest functional Kremnica Mint in the world. Surprised us, however, the fact that Mint is open only during working days in such a way that the show is on najneskoršia 12:30 h. Each even Saturday is open to only store, which is not exactly defined on the web site of the Mint and can someone brush off, when it comes to exposure and not even glance, because it will be closed on Saturday. Another oddity is that if you come to 12:30 h. You must be at least 5 people that has taken place. For that reason we bought a 5 Pack of tickets despite the fact that we were the only two. The tour did a young man who was very nice and we learned a lot of attractions. He demonstrated the operation of historical machines that are still functional and are using them. The exposure also passes, where coins minted all over the world, so we should be able to see the striking of 5 cents. Mint has a huge tourist potential, which is unused. We had the opportunity, however, still see this English historical jewel with expert commentary. When you visit the Kremnica Mint, don't miss the parade along with an explanation of it's worth.
