Cathedral of St. Elizabeth (Dom svatej Alzbety), Kosice

(4.9/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Slovakia's largest church, Cathedral of St. Elizabeth (Dom svatej Alzbety) also serves as the town's premier landmark. Today the structure displays many different aspects of its mixed architectural heritage, thanks to a number of add-ons and restorations. Enter the 14th-century cathedral and get an up-close look at the interior double-spiral staircase, a rarity in terms of construction. Wander the inner sections of the building, passing intricate frescoes and sculptures as you go. Make sure to stop by the altar of St. Elisabeth backed by an ornate glass window and vaulted ceilings. Climb 60 m (197 ft) to the top of the bell tower for a panoramic view over the city and surrounding hills. • Need to look at everything from the Tomb to the tower. There is, indeed, in the history and get to know a bit of the old life in Manchester, I recommend also a visit to the chapel of St. Michael only a short distance to the South.

  • Come to Košice, go to the Mall and walk past the Cathedral probably impossible. It is long and very beautiful from the outside.

  • Beautiful Cathedral planted in the city center, and especially at the centre of the main street and most alive in Kosice. A must see. The buildings that alongside the Cathedral are also worth visiting.

  • I'm not a religious person, so didn't visit this cathedral for that reason. Regardless of your faith (or lack thereof) it's worth coming here to admire the architecture. The building is beautiful, with great stonework. Definitely worth a visit.
  • Stunning place, you can climb upstairs to the north tower with the best view over the whole city - worth of fee and a few steps. Whatmore, F. Rakoczi (on of the biggest hungarian persons) down in the crypt.
  • One of the most famous landmarks in kosice, the cathedral looks stunning from the outside giving a great landscape to the whole area around but from inside isn't as great! You can request to Climb the minaret for a great top view for the old city of kosice
  • Absolutely beautiful cathedral in the middle of town. I recommend paying to take the stairs all the way up into the tower. Its worth the climb to see the entire town!
  • Very nice. For 2€ you can go to the top of cathedral
