Old Town Hall, Bratislava
(4.3/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
One of the city's oldest buildings and long a nexus of local administration, Old Town Hall today serves as an integral section of the historical city center. While the hall itself grew from an amalgamation of buildings during the 15th century, its clock tower has stood since the late 1300s. Access the complex from the capital's main square and admire its mix of colors and architectural styles ranging from Gothic to Baroque to Neo-Renaissance. You can enter the building, the site of the city museum, and explore the chapel, which features a host of intricately painted walls. Be sure to make your way up the clock tower in order to enjoy a sweeping view over the surrounding rooftops. Using our international travel planner, Bratislava attractions like Old Town Hall can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • A hidden gem, cheap to get in about 4 euros, large sprawling museum with lots of interesting history. You also can climb the tower and get great views across the square. Downstairs is also the torture...  more »
  • The Bell Tower of the old town overlooks the main square. Access to the inner court by two separate porches, one by the main square and the other by the Place of the Primatial Palace. The monument is an example of pure and hard, totally wacky, mixture of architecture worthy of the Slovak capital. Built in 1325, it is the oldest building in the city. Around this essential building, this set of cute little white houses with red tiles with multicolored mosaics, its magnificent polychrome gold and blue roof reminded us of our Burgundy. A Museum is open to the public, but we have not visited for lack of time.
