Devin Castle, Bratislava

(4.2/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Strategically situated on a cliff above the confluence of two important rivers, Devin Castle bears evidence of prehistoric settlements as well as Roman and medieval ruins. The fortification walls encircle a landscape of open courtyards, staircases, and towers in uneven states of repair. Look for the small watchtower called the Maiden Tower balancing on a sole rock. Legend has it that many imprisoned lovesick daughters plunged to their deaths from this tower. See the foundations and the tiny model of the first Christian church north of the Danube. The castle houses a museum exhibiting archaeological objects and offers a range of outdoor activities, such as boat rides, hiking trails, and horseback riding. The upper castle has been closed to the public since 2008, due to reconstruction. See Devin Castle and all Bratislava has to offer by arranging your trip with our Bratislava trip itinerary builder.

  • this is the one of must, when you visit Bratislava. especially in spring. also village Devin is very nice place with good wine, excellent food and nice people:)
  • On Devin area you can walk in any weather and any means of transport, where appropriate, following red trail. You just have to sit down near the confluence of the Morava and Danube, opotom or even from the Devin castle can be observed nature, transport on the Danube, possibly, fauna and flora. Beautiful are the paths to an, nice view from the top, one can go hiking because I carefully on the bike. I recommend a trail of DNV to Devin, signage is very good and you can choose from a variety of flavor. You will encounter not only tourists, but also to the runners, for example. Dzurindu, cyclists or srnky and from what I've been surprised, kept goats there over the kameňoĺomom-modern Freemasonry:-D kamzíci. The only downside is the full paid car park near the Castle. Therefore, prefer PUBLIC TRANSPORT or bike, or on foot from DNV and back by PUBLIC TRANSPORT ... And still another option, splaviť Moravia from the high in Moravia, where appropriate, from the DNV-we bought Pálavu and splavujeme what I can give back and we can ship to go home vyfúkneme ... I wanted to add photos from a visit, where I was x-times, with his wife, sons Bir, vnúčatmi, known, could not, could not,

  • Devin, discovered the meaning of the name Castle: for dev-perhaps this is the legend, but beautiful. I. top view stunning: a merging of two rivers Danube and Morava-simvolichne place. Walked around-like. Recommendation: when bad weather, dress warmer at the top of the wind.
