Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, Bratislava
(4.5/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Set on a peninsula extending into the Danube River, Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum boasts an extensive collection of modern artwork from international artists. Designed to resemble a sort of modernist Roman galley, the sleek museum features a large collection of pieces from the Netherlands because of founder Gerard Meulensteen's own Dutch heritage. You'll also find plenty of works representing Slovakia, the U.S., and other European countries. Swing by the gift shop and pick up an art-related souvenir or print of one of the museum's pieces. You can also stroll through the grounds outside to admire a series of modern art sculptures. • Wonderful museum on unique location. Especially modern art. Both paintings and sculptures. Cafeteria is chic but expensive. With temporary exhibition you need some luck. Accessible by bus 90, which leaves to the European Vea shopping center. Buy your bus ticket to come back as you leave, because on the ground there is no vending machine. Normally you can buy tickets at the counter, but if they sold out you're out of luck and you need to take the risk to go on the bus without a ticket, 'm. a. w. the risk a fine of 50 euros, or else you have begging to be with someone to drive. We have been lucky, that dear people wanted to give us a lift.

  • Works by famous artists in a great architecture. Here to spend half a day. The perhaps most beautiful Museum in Europe is located in the middle of the Danube. Café and shop round off the experience. Moderate prices, ample parking and a boat dock. Who can not ride to Paris, Amsterdam or New York, is here.

  • It' a great place to visit, it's our first gallery of modern art, located on the river Danube damm. Great views by sunny weather, and a full art experience guaranteed ;)
  • Nice location, inside and out, clean, nice coffee shop. Interesting art. Worth a short visit and not too expensive.
  • I ahte useums and this place was a delight. Manageable size, well worth the admittance fee
  • I have been here twice, it's always impressing :) the architecture of the building is designed so that you can admire paintings and find the Danube 2 meters away from you. I totally recommend this place! They have discount for students!
