Bratislava Castle (Hrad), Bratislava

(3.7/5 based on 2,800+ reviews on the web)
Standing on a rocky hill and overlooking the river, Bratislava Castle (Hrad) dominates the city and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, including the neighboring countries of Austria and Hungary. The massive, fully restored building is topped with four corner towers. Look for the well-conserved original part of the structure, the 15th-century Sigismund Gate. The castle houses the national museum and four halls exhibiting archaeological findings, such as the prehistoric statue of the Venus of Moravany. Catch a concert at the Baroque chapel, now converted into a music hall. If you get hungry, dine at the restaurant housed an erstwhile Baroque stable facing an English park. Make Bratislava Castle (Hrad) a centerpiece of your Bratislava vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Bratislava trip itinerary builder.

  • Bratislava Castle is a monumental structure. It can be seen from a great distance. Evident every visitor to Bratislava skyline. Bratislava castle is situated on top of the white color and the city's case. As you can see from here all the city and the Danube River, bird's eye from the front of you. The castle of Bratislava's famous Novy Most Köprüsünüde.

  • Raised at the Bratislava Castle view it up close. Very beautiful view on Bratislava and Danube open when we walked up. But at the very top of the particularly interesting sights there. The castle itself is simple and empty courtyard.

  • The castle itself was gutted by fire and neglect in the previous century, and has had major restoration work done in the past decades. The result is that the outside looks impressive, but the inside i...  more »

  • A beautiful Castle. The view is great. The baroque garden is a personal favourite for me. There is a restaurant with stunning views, but fairly expensive prices. It always feels peaceful, there's always space for you to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Beware, they don't open on bank holidays!
  • Nice castle. But not very historical. Museum was small. Gardens are still young. Nice to visit. But not very historic
  • Bratislava wasn't such a beautiful city. There was not much there to see. Just the bridge with a watch tower and the castle that was overlooking the river and the city. That's all. I loved the streets in the city centre but they are the same kinds of streets in most European countries.
  • A pretty building which is in really good condition after recent renovation. Maybe not the most historically interesting castle as it has a very modern feel to it now, but still a must see in Bratislava.
  • So much more there than you would expect from a castle in England. Lots of green space and amazing gardens Very high up and views are superb Take your camera!
