Bratislava Castle (Hrad), Bratislava

3.7
Standing on a rocky hill and overlooking the river, Bratislava Castle (Hrad) dominates the city and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, including the neighboring countries of Austria and Hungary. The massive, fully restored building is topped with four corner towers. Look for the well-conserved original part of the structure, the 15th-century Sigismund Gate. The castle houses the national museum and four halls exhibiting archaeological findings, such as the prehistoric statue of the Venus of Moravany. Catch a concert at the Baroque chapel, now converted into a music hall. If you get hungry, dine at the restaurant housed an erstwhile Baroque stable facing an English park. Make Bratislava Castle (Hrad) a centerpiece of your Bratislava vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Bratislava trip itinerary builder.

The castle of Bratislava seen outdoor please by his stature or dislike because of its very boxy shape according to the tastes. I personally find beautiful perch at the top of the Hill. Its interior is rather sketchy, remade to nine, white and gold, as if we came to receive the keys. The great tower is however time, stone, small stairs and nooks. You can climb the tower and enjoy a view to 360º on the city and the Danube. Price: €8 / pers a bit expensive in my opinion possible family rates

The period I visited the Castle were preparing for the EU Summit to be held there. Great atmosphere, nice view, normal entry price, beautiful rooms, very good moyseiakoi sites, interesting activities.

  • Beautifully renovated! Great view on the Danube River. Quite crowded during weekends especially when the weather is nice... But it's definitely a must see when visiting Bratislava!
  • Absolutely beautiful! If you're in Bratislava this is a must. Tough walk up but then we spent a couple of hours just hanging out on the wonderful grounds. Nice weather is a huge bonus!
  • Massive castle on top of a hill close to city center. Great panoramic view of river Danube. Nice garden behind the Carole with access to hidden tunnel
  • Always worth to go. In good "old times", when the ideologies from Lenin has been alive, I visited this place (where else to go?) to enjoy the good views over the city and the Danube 😊
  • The castle is beautiful from outside, inside I could not visit because it was closed on monday but the view over Bratislava was worth it! A must see if coming to Bratislava ;) Il Castello è bello visto da fuori, dentro non ho potuto entrare perché lunedì è chiuso but la vista su Bratislava è valsa la visita. Lo consiglio a chi visita Bratislava

Where to stay in Bratislava

Save money on a trip to the pricey town of Bratislava by booking a private room or by staying in one of the many hostels. While there are hotels here, frequent business travelers have driven prices up. Find accommodation in Stary Mesto--the city's Old Town--and experience the medieval charm of the area, such as winding streets, old churches, and a hill-top castle. Consider staying on the Danube for riverside views. Be sure to check the reviews of your lodging ahead of time; the quality of accommodations can vary.
