Welcome to The Singapore Coins and Notes Museum

The Singapore Coins and Notes Museum, is the country's first and only museum dedicated to displaying currency. Through our intimate but novel exhibits, journey through a world of coins and notes from the earliest objects used for barter trade to the latest cutting-edge polymer notes. With emphasis on pre- and post-independence Singapore, the Museum shows how foreign coins and notes used here eventually gave way to Singapore-made currency that was vital in her early nation building days. The innovative excellence of the Singapore Mint and the Monetary Authority of Singapore in the design and production of world-renowned coins and notes is also showcased.

For the curious and the young-at-heart, a whole section of interactive displays awaits! In the hands-on area, learn about the metals that are commonly used in the manufacture of coins by handling gold, silver and other metal bars to feel their relative weights. Also try your hand at making coin rubbings to take home as souvenirs. To inject a strong regional and local flavour, a section is dedicated to the peculiar ways in which coins and notes are used for weddings, ornamentation and other purposes. Let the Singapore Coins and Notes Museum satisfy your inquisitive mind with educational displays!

  • This place is permanently closed. I visited today whilst walking in the Chinatown area and discovered that 40 Pagoda Street is now occupied by a tailor's store. I was asked whether I needed any shirts...  more »
  • Fake notes on display at the upper level. Shop below. Extremely small. Spent just 20 minutes, mostly at the store. Just boring.  more »
  • This place was more of a shop for coin collectors than a museum. Some really interesting recent coins and artefacts are on display.  more »

  • Yet Singapore has 3-4 same kind of shops but its the only one at pagoda street where u can see the old series of currency Singapore used to have after independence and before as well.. At the first floor of building they have a full fledged exhibits of old series of currencies .. And coinage ..and at lower level they have the shop where u can buy mint products at respective costs ... I loved the mint packaging very much..
