Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.

  • Spent about 2 hours here. The museum showcases a vast variety of designs ranging from furniture to iPads to shower heads. The information notes accompanying certain displays were not always helpful enough for me (not very well acquainted with design-related matters).
  • Nice collection of objects - definitely worth an hour or so, to peruse. It shows the award winners from Red Dot - so a pretty eclectic collection of objects. The shop is a let-down; I would have expected a higher end, and wider collection of award winners from years past?
  • I love this little artistic , chill out space in the middle of the CBD in Singapore. It does feel like being somewhere in the middle of Paris or any other European city. Great place to have a coffee and relax in the city centre and work from one of the coffee shops there.
  • I've been here three times before. Beautiful, iconic, red building where the Red Dot Design museum, as well as a few office spaces and bars are located. Nice place to explore. I've personally never entered the museum but I would like to one day, to see the collection of designs which received the Red Dot Design Award. However, the space does seem a bit cramped. I picked up a few design trail brochures here before, would say that this place is catered more for the office crowd and tourists. The Hopscotch bar is good and they do custom-mixed cocktails for special events.
  • If you are a fanatic about design you will like it, if not, doesn't worth it to see an old mac or chairs.
