Peranakan Houses, Singapore

4.1
Welcome to The Peranakan!

We commit to being a company that seeks to employ post retirement age Singaporeans, who provide great service and authentic Peranakan cuisine in Singapore. Executive Chef Raymond Khoo and his team serve three generations of delicious 'mesti-cuba' (must-try) Peranakan recipes, lovingly handed down by the Nonyas and Babas in his family, now brought to your table.

We are currently, the only Peranakan restaurant along the Orchard road belt in Singapore and the only restaurant to serve a ‘Tok Panjang’ – a grand Peranakan feast, once served at the turn of the century, by wealthy Straits families to mark special occasions like weddings, anniversaries and important birthdays.

We also offer a 6 course degustation menu and a Chef’s Table Set Menu alongside our regular Ala carte menu.

And if you like to bring the experience home, please take away some of the celebrated nonya kebayas, batik shirts, homemade cookies and peranakan porcelain that we will have available at our Display Counter!

We look forward to warmly welcoming you to our restaurant and a unique Peranakan experience!

  • It is said that the descendants of Chinese immigrants from the late 15th century to Malaysia and Singapore are called "Peranakan", but the Peranakan house is the town where the people marry the locals and establish the fusion of both cultures.

  • A true example of the Peranakan architecture! These houses are amazingly well preserved and so worth the visit.  more »

  • Peranakan Houses are spectacular, and these specimens are one of the best. That said, my visit could have been briefer. There are not so many, leaving me less than impressed. The geylang neighborhood has much to offer, so don’t simply see this sight. While I don’t know of a specific hawker, the Karaoke and restaurant options nearby are great at night.
  • Many good photo opportunities. Do take care as traffic can be quite heavy even on the weekends. Also the houses are inhabited so don't trespass and be aware of vehicles and people going in and out of the houses
  • I live in them and they are just amazing. Beautiful and simple, they look small outise but huge inside. It's amazing to know that your living in a very historical place 😁.
  • Live in them, simple yet beautiful. Very lovely. It's sometimes funny when u go out you see tourists picturing your neighborhood 😂
  • Beautiful house's with colourful paint and old architecture
