  • Great place to visit to understand how the education landscape evolved to what it is today. For me, it brought back a sense of nostalgia as I saw the textbooks in the display cabinet.  more »
  • There are different types of visitors to Singapore. There are a large number of people who visit Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, take a look at flowers, rush to take pictures, and then buy some souvenirs. Another type is those who often visit Singapore and wonder how the country works, such as healthcare, urban planning, etc. If you are the last group, I recommend you come to this place. Like other government camps, it is a way of delivering educational information to the nation's citizens. At the same time, it also provides more state information to the visitors. The center is located in the front of the university, recording the past 50 years of Singapore's educational journey. There is an experience gallery showing educational development from the colonial period to the present. There are also heritage areas that showcase different areas of education, such as school building and classroom co-curricular.

  • If you wish to visit this Heritage Centre I suggest that you move quickly through the nineteenth century section and spend most of your time on the early twentieth century, the war years and the post-...  more »

  • Plenty of information regarding the history of education in Singapore. Exhibits cover how education in Singapore began before the colonial era to present day. You can expect to spend 1-2 hours here.
  • WHAT IS THIS: This is the former New Town Primary School building, which is converted into this heritage center, owned by the Ministry of Education HOW IS IT: Basically, there are 3 floors to visit. -1st floor: Lockers and reception desk, and exhibits pertaining to school songs, school buildings and probably 'school nostalgia'. There is also a courtyard and outdoor exhibits which is related to even more 'school nostalgia'! . Once inside, you have to register yourself. YOUR NRIC IS NEEDED! Once done, you are free to roam. OPENING TIMES: I cannot get Google Maps to get specialised timings, so I will have to state it here: DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS: Monday >> Friday 9AM >> 5PM SCHOOL DAYS: I am unsure, since their website is sick and broke. Will update. MUST PAY OR NOT: You do not have to fork out cash. It is free. FACILITIES: - Lockers - Help Desk - Self-guided tour - Pantry - NO ELEVATOR! Take note! SPECIAL THINGS: As mentioned earlier, there is a website portal for your self-guided tour there, but the servers operating this service at MOEHC, I believe, is mostly down just to save power. If you really want to use it, inform the help desk. They will turn it on for you. When I visited the place, I heard that MOEHC will move out from this location to somewhere else, near the Police Heritage Center, so hurry up and visit this place before it moves out! END OF REVIEW
  • Best option for knowledge regarding education system, histoeical phenamenun, development and Industrilization.
  • Was there on a course. Museum tours are limited to school holidays and enquiries need to be made beforehand.
  • Exhibits of old photos, resources and equipment used in schools from the early 19th century :-)
