Merlion Park, Singapore

4.2
Witness one world's most bizarre statues at Merlion Park, famed for its figure of a half lion, half fish shooting water from its mouth in a proud arc. Built in 1964, the 9 m (30 ft) statue now represents one of Singapore's symbols. A smaller statue--the fish-lion's baby--can also be found nearby. The baby statue offers a similar photo opportunity with a fraction of the crowds. After you've taken some photos, turn your gaze around to appreciate sweeping views of the waterfront. Capture the Singapore waterfront skyline from this spot - the Merlion, the Esplanade, Marina Bay Sands. Plan your onward journey from this spot: where will you be heading to next: the National Gallery...  more »

This is a very cool place just to hang out and enjoy the incredible view, pretty easy to access especially with the new passage through the under bridge. Have some cool place to sit down and grab some light snack and food. But because this is one of a very famous destination for most of the tourist, so be ready to get rumble here :) tons of people were fighting to take a cool shot with a cool angle.... so this place could get pretty crowded...

Beautiful place to visit. You can spend good time with your family and friends near the water and beautiful buildings. Lot of restaurants to fill your self. Avoid to go in hot sunny day otherwise you will not be able to escape yourself from getting tanned. Nearby is the Gardens by the bay You can visit both in single visit

This is a cool place with a pretty view. The Merlion is a must see as it is a typical Singaporean monument. There are couple of places to grab some food around. The surrounding is a financial centre with some nice skyscrapers.

The must-see attraction when you come to Singapore. Though there's not much to see around the sculpture, it is the icon of Singapore. However, most of famous attractions of Singapore are located near Merlion park, so you can visit CBD, museums, Marina Bay Sands Hotel etc. on foot.

A very quiet place late in the night. I've spend over 2 hours at this place late in the night at around 2 O' clock. It's very safe and you'll feel beautiful with the cool breeze from the river hitting you :)

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
