Merlion Park, Singapore

(6,500+ reviews on the web)
Monument
Witness one world's most bizarre statues at Merlion Park, famed for its figure of a half lion, half fish shooting water from its mouth in a proud arc. Built in 1964, the 9 m (30 ft) statue now represents one of Singapore's symbols. A smaller statue--the fish-lion's baby--can also be found nearby. The baby statue offers a similar photo opportunity with a fraction of the crowds. After you've taken some photos, turn your gaze around to appreciate sweeping views of the waterfront. Put Merlion Park on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Singapore itinerary planner.

  • Takes about 30 mins to leisurely stroll here from the Marina Bay Sands Hotel around the edge of the bay - when I did it there was dragon boat racing going on to enjoy too. The Merlion wasn't as big as...  more »

  • This nice waterfront park gets a lot of foot traffic because of the famed Merlion statue. It is relatively easy to reach on foot from virtually anywhere in downtown Singapore, owing to the many well-appointed walks paths leading to it. Stop by for pictures and admire the picturesque waterfront, the modern skyline, and the Singapore Marina. Check the local weather before visiting, paying attention to forecasts of intense heat or strong rains. It can also get uncomfortably humid, which was the case when we visited.
  • Nice view water reflect with light so beautiful and fresh air. We can see a lot of place from Merlion Park like Marina Bay Sands Hotel. There's some cafe around, with options for snacks.
  • This place is a must see for every visitor in Singapore. Come here in the evening when lights are turned on and the tropical temperature started to cool down. The lighted buildings provided a panoramic view and backdrop worth sharing.
  • Merlion Park, is a Singapore landmark and major tourist attraction, located at One Fullerton, Singapore, near the Central Business District (CBD). The Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and the body of a fish that is widely used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore. Two Merlion statues are located at the park. The original Merlion structure measures 8.6 meters tall and spouts water from its mouth. It has subsequently been joined by a Merlion cub, which is located near the original statue and measures just 2 metres tall
  • I rated this five-star which I don't usually do because I like how clean it is and the surrounding is just breathtaking. It was very crowded when I visited it but I could still feel relaxed and safe. By the way, I felt a little bit annoyed of a few people who smoked there without caring about other people around them.
