Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, Singapore

(3.1/5 based on 50+ reviews on the web)
The Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore is a new cruise terminal in Singapore which is located at Marina South next to the Marina South Pier. The S$500 million terminal began constructing in October 2009 and completed on May 22, 2012. It received its first ship, the Voyager of the Seas, on 26 May 2012. The official opening ceremony of MBCCS was on October 22, 2012.The terminal is operated by SATS-Creuers Cruise Services. This addition and the Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront are expected to grow the leisure cruise sector in Singapore. Second Minister for Trade and Industry S Iswaran said that cruise passenger numbers are expected to hit 1.5 million in three to five years. Passenger numbers reached close to one million in 2011. When it's fully operational, it is expected to generate some 3,000 jobs in the tourism sector.HistoryThe impetus for construction came from difficulties many cruise operators had with the current Singapore Cruise Centre which is in a narrow channel with a dead end. The geographical limitations of the site impose height and berth limits on the cruise operators. Whereas, the new location at Marina South has deep waters, a large turning basin, and no height restrictions, which will enable it to accommodate the largest cruise ships being built now.On March 18, 2009, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) revealed the cruise terminal's design.

  • My 1st time to Marina Cruise Center. The center was really huge compare to Harbor Front Cruise Center. The center can only house 2 cruises which I think is too small for the size. Should hold more cruises instead. Most of the facilities there were still new and their car park was really convenience for both drop-off and alright. Did not visit the shop around there cause was too excited to go up the New Dream Cruises. Overall the feeling at the cruise center was good. The wait at the custom was not very long.
  • Quick and easy check in, staff were very friendly and helpful. It took us about 20mins to check in even though it was estimated to be an hr or more. Crusie was with Royal Caribbean
  • Did not get lost there. Watch out when exiting. The real taxi line is not the one out the main doors but further down.
  • A great Cruise Terminal with free wi-fi and currency exchange. You can take a taxi to downtown for 10-15 USD (2016) or walk 20 min and take the very efficient and clean subway.
  • Decent port will two berths capable of handling most cruise ships. Not much amenities at the centre itself but 5mins drive to Marina Centre to fill your shopping needs. 5-10 mins walk to Marina South Pier MRT station.
