Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, Singapore

3.3
The Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore is a new cruise terminal in Singapore which is located at Marina South next to the Marina South Pier. The S$500 million terminal began constructing in October 2009 and completed on May 22, 2012. It received its first ship, the Voyager of the Seas, on 26 May 2012. The official opening ceremony of MBCCS was on October 22, 2012.The terminal is operated by SATS-Creuers Cruise Services. This addition and the Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront are expected to grow the leisure cruise sector in Singapore. Second Minister for Trade and Industry S Iswaran said that cruise passenger numbers are expected to hit 1.5 million in three to five years. Passenger numbers reached close to one million in 2011. When it's fully operational, it is expected to generate some 3,000 jobs in the tourism sector.HistoryThe impetus for construction came from difficulties many cruise operators had with the current Singapore Cruise Centre which is in a narrow channel with a dead end. The geographical limitations of the site impose height and berth limits on the cruise operators. Whereas, the new location at Marina South has deep waters, a large turning basin, and no height restrictions, which will enable it to accommodate the largest cruise ships being built now.On March 18, 2009, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) revealed the cruise terminal's design.

  • Good selection of shops mainly for the office crowd. Convenient as it's linked to Raffles Place MRT station. It's usually bustling during lunchtime peak hours.
  • Beautiful and gorgeous pier. Nice place to chill out with family and friends.
  • Aside from the gorgeous, relaxing seaview, the Marina Bay cruise centre shall see its very first Singapore Coffee Festival this weekend from 4 - 6 August... A standard ticket costs S$22 ($18 for Straits Times subscribers or DBS/POSB exclusive). This includes 2 sampling drinks, a festive goodie bag as well as a SCF card which entitles you to discounts at participating merchants. also, hattendo recently pre-launched their kaya cream muffin — available exclusively only at the Singapore Coffee festival and from 7-13 august. they will then launch the cream muffins in japan (omg no longer here in Singapore!!). must must must try.
  • Nice sea Port terminal, unfortunately can only accommodate two ships at one time. Less crowded than the harbor front terminal, many washroom, departure is located at the upper level. Best to arrive early to avoid the long lineup to get drop off.
  • Awesome chilling spot to see the sky turns dark. Playground on top and uncle shop below

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
