MacRitchie Reservoir, Singapore

4.6
#3 of 14 in Nature in Singapore
Just a short trip from the city center lies the serenity of MacRitchie Reservoir, part of Singapore’s water system that captures rain water to help supply the island’s growing population. Trails surround the park, which has an upgraded visitor center featuring a café, restrooms, and information station. The best views are from the TreeTop Walk, a 250 m (820 ft) suspension bridge across the rainforest canopy, which can be accessed along the 7 km (4 mi) Venus Loop. Wear hiking shoes and bring water. • Amazing place for running, walking or just enjoying mother nature. There are several trails and circuits and the fact that you can walk all around the water reservoir is quite nice! Very humid though! Get enough water a day out sunblock!
  • Macritchie reservoir is peaceful silent place to visit. There is lot of greenery around the water body. There is peaceful walkway towards greenery. One has to be little careful about the monkeys roam around.
  • I went here as a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and I got that. There were a number of walks signposted of different lengths and degrees of difficulty. I opted for the boardwalk round the reservoir and it was a delight. The occasional walker and jogger, but if i saw a dozen folk in 3 hours I'd be exaggerating. I'd recommend stocking up on water from the reasonably priced cafe at the beginning. The walk has benches at regular intervals and information signs. I did wonder if the placing of the snake information sign at abut halfway was deliberate. Talk about rock and a hard place! Still, our paths never crossed, but I did see an impressive array of bird and dragonfly life. I didn't make it to the TreeTop Walk, so one for next time. If you want to unwind, or maybe use the exercise equipment, I can heartily recommend a visit here.
  • A beautiful place which is inhabitated by hundreds of species of animals and plants. Recommended to students and tourists and all ages of the public to come and learn about the exotic species within this reservoir. This reservoir also encourages people to take part in the kayaking activity in its clean waters. A splendid place for a peaceful day out jogging, walking, cycling, skateboarding, scooter-riding and more.
  • A very nice and beautiful place.Lots of serenity around.Takes some time to visit the specific structures around the area. It is a favourite place for many people, be it joggers, hikers, strollers, families with children , etc. There is a western cafe/ restaurant , aslo a public car park. Dated : 05/11/2017 ( Sunday ).

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
