#21 of 200 in Shopping in Singapore
Lucky Plaza represents one of the country's most popular shopping malls and offers everything from luxury goods to quality restaurants and salon services. This shopping center was built in 1981 by Far East Organization to resemble a modern bazaar in the center of Singapore's tourist district, Orchard Road. Stop in to browse through clothing and accessories, play with cosmetics, grab a drink at a bar, or sit down for a meal. The mall also features international chain stores and fast-food eateries. • This old mall which was completed in 1981 has stood the test of time. This kind of mall is now rarely found in Singapore. Money Changers are available here especially those that are located at the ground floor; they offer reasonable exchange rates that can still be bargained. This is a budget friendly shopping center that is located at the famous Orchard road. If you are looking for economical household goods, clothing, shoes, handbags, electronic goods, etc. for reasonable prices, this is right place to visit. They also have reasonable choice of restaurants; cheap, delicious and famous local food and delicacies can be found all around this shopping center. Besides, If you're looking for a good place to buy souvenirs to take back home, this is the right mall to visit. Lucky plaza is the right choice for budget customers.
  • Very old mall that has changed a great deal of the years and yet still remains partly the same. Filled with mostly inexpensive shops and food court in the basement. Good place for broke tourists to spend time in after sending too much in more expensive parts of town. Mall is no longer overrun with maid's on Sunday mornings and copy watches are not being offered on the street in front. But it has other items worth considering now.
  • I often go to this mall although it is a long time mall. In this mall there are a variety of stores from selling clothes, food, cameras, electronics and mobile phones. If you are a tourist, you can find a gift here to take home. As I visit at the weekend, the mall is filled with both local and foreign visitors. For me shopping experience at this mall is very enjoyable.
  • Fridays are still bearable but do not attempt for your life to even enter this premises during the weekend. It is literally jam packed with people all squished like sardines. Recommended on weekday afternoons and before lunch where you can freely look up shops. Beware of over priced items being sold. Best to always have other options besides the shops in this place.
  • Despite what some people say, I think it's a good place because you can find good deals. Not everybody can afford pricey items in Singapore! And please, stop looking down on migrant workers! You are not much better than them! Singapore wouldn't be where it is today without migrant workers!

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
