Lower Seletar Reservoir is a reservoir located in the northeastern part of Singapore, to the east of Yishun New Town. The reservoir has a surface area of 3.6 km², and a capacity of 9.5 million m³. The mean depth of the reservoir is 2 m, with a maximum depth of 5.5 m. The shoreline length is 14.3 km.HistoryLower Seletar Reservoir was constructed under the Sungei Seletar/Bedok Water Scheme, completed in 1986. The scheme involved the damming of Sungei Seletar to form Lower Seletar Reservoir, the creation of Bedok Reservoir from a former sand quarry and the construction of Bedok Waterworks. Its unique feature was the construction of nine stormwater collection stations to tap the storm runoffs of the surrounding urbanised catchments. Eight of these collection stations are ponds at Yishun, Tampines, Bedok and Yan Kit.TodayIn 2004, Public Utilities Board (PUB) allowed sailing at Lower Seletar Reservoir. This was done in collaboration with the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and the Seletar Country Club. This is the first time sailing was introduced in local reservoirs. Sports fishing is also carried out at designated areas of the Lower Seletar Reservoir.Lower Seletar Reservoir ParkLocated on the northern shore of Lower Seletar Reservoir, the Lower Seletar Reservoir Park is largely flat with some undulating terrain that provides a pleasant place for a leisurely stroll or jog. You can find benches along the edge of the reservoir if you prefer to sit back and enjoy the beautiful view of the reservoir. The park, with an area of 3 ha, is equipped with a jetty, shelters, restrooms, and a 1.3 km jogging track. Popular outdoor activities at the park include jogging, birdwatching and fishing. Water sports activities provided by People's Association Water-Venture outlet (Closed on every Monday and Public Holidays) can be participated by all.

  • Nice shaded walk with a platform extending out into the water. At the end is a lovely fresh breeze which is most welcome. Park also has very clean toilets. Limited car parking with about 20 places I recall. Good views back to MRT and along the banks of the Orchid Golf Course. Heavy forest across the other side.
  • There's some fishing grounds with covered jetty. Live bait not allowed. Fishes like Peacock Bass, Toman & Temensis are found here. If you are lucky, Otters can be spotted. Public toilets available. There's also mini water park for little kids to dip in n play. No shops. Only cold drinks vending machine. Nice to come in the morning and evening.
  • A great feast for the ears. There are so many different species of birds singing or making noises at the same time. My greatest wish is this little green lung be kept for a long long time.
  • Exciting water and greeneries offering a range of activities in a cosy comfy safe welcoming ambience for romantic intimates groups tourists students Expats and families to enjoy and rejuvenating. Friendly relaxing break in a busy week.

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
