  • There are many beautiful temples in Singapore but this has to be the largest and grandest of all. Really worth a 2-3 hour walk. There is much history in Shuang Lin Temple and it is advisable that one ...  more »

  • Really beautiful and peaceful. Its hard to find a place of quiet in such a busy country but this is it. Also there's chanting monks which made for an interesting medication
  • Used to play here in the 1970s when I was young. The monastery used to be bigger, busier and easier to access then. The expressway in front took away some of its former glory but the sense of awe never fails to come to many people who visited it for the first time.Check out the several buildings with wooden beams (without using any metallic nails) still standing strong today is not to be missed.
  • First time visit. Never knew there is a mini (comparing to overseas) reclining Buddha all this while in the monastery. Quiet n serene. Not crowded.
  • Visited this temple on the first day of Chinese New Year (CNY). Although the place was more crowded than usual, there is orderliness and peace, especially at the central part of the temple where there are offerings of small lighted candles. Temple volunteers are around to assist you in making donations and writing your wishes on a small card and hang them up. At Guan Yin Dian (right side of the temple), you are encouraged to light only one joss stick. At Cheng Huang Miao (left side of the temple), you can purchase joss sticks and joss paper at the counter inside the temple. Over here, you can pay to join a group Taisui God prayer session with a monk. During CNY, it is best not to drive to this temple as there is limited parking space and a long queue of cars waiting outside the temple. Souvenir shops are opened at the central part of the temple (near admin office) and Cheng Huang Miao. Vegetarian food stalls are open during CNY at Guan Yin Dian and snacks/drinks are available at Cheng Huang Miao. Expect a long queue for the food! In the midst of the CNY crowd, don't forget to slow down and admire the architecture of the temple!
  • Serene and tranquil. Very detailed temple with excellent workmanship.
