The neighborhood has roots as a humble fishing village and was once known for its production of paperbark trees. The area's rich history can still be witnessed today, evidenced by the prominence of Malay culture and heritage. In 1822 the area was allocated to the Malay Sultan and Muslim community, including Arab and Bugis traders.   • The Malay district remained probably the most authentic district of the three (Indian and Chinese) even if it is relatively small. The streets are lined with old houses of all colors and traditional stalls, they are relatively quiet, and there are even very typical purely pedestrian places. The views on the Sultan mosque are very pretty. The contrast with the huge towers lining the neighborhood is impressive, the tags/dėcorations on some walls show character connected to this place, especially at night.

  • This place is the object of tourist, many cafe here, side by side with the sultan mosque big enough, don't forget to haji lane for foto2.
