Along the promenades you'll find quirky boutiques, international cuisine, and traditional wares such as rugs, perfumes, and clothing. The neighborhood has roots as a humble fishing village and was once known for its production of paperbark trees. The area's rich history can still be witnessed today, evidenced by the prominence of Malay culture and heritage. In 1822 the area was allocated to the Malay Sultan and Muslim community, including Arab and Bugis traders.   • Very authentic and traditional place. So many historical building's displaying the glory of the past. Haven for food and drink from many backgrounds. Plenty of public transport options.  more »
