Market type Hawker, outside of the harassments of tourists (we only agree with another couple and it was full of people), where to eat good local things in an airy, bright building and with the meticulous aesthetics, and all at very affordable prices. In addition, it continues to be a local market and you can appreciate the life of the area and the raw material they buy for their day to day. Only downside is that it is a bit far from the Centre, 10 minutes from the SMRT from PAYA LEBAR station.

The Best Malay Biryani I have ever had in Singapore. Other than being the most inexpensive meal at S$5 for either chicken or mutton you will want more. They are located on the 2nd level and even our f...  more »

Many more Joo chiat complex connected by a footbridge. Costumes with large amounts of clothing stores, as well as fish and fruit markets. I headed from the road gathering food and beverage outlets used blocks on the right side a few times, but there are food shops of various countries, such as Indonesia and Thailand cuisine. My favorite is what toast photo fifth and sixth cards shop. Nonya Kaya jam at shop mother's husband has the handmade old toast offers is likely. I think coffee with as much as $ 3. Japanese, Chinese, Koreans and foreigners are being inundated with Yaku Kaya toast shop ago sat on the table and eating rare or enjoyed the conversation in English, is spoken by locals. I think it's a great place to enjoy the local atmosphere.

Incredible place for all your Muslim food needs! Currently there's a huge Ramadan market going round, with so many exciting shops. Truly amazing experience. Outwith Ramadan, the market and food centre has so much Malay food. Honestly downright amazing.

Lots of food stuff can be found here. If hungry, go 2nd floor. Lots of good food. Usually crowded, especially weekends.

Nice place to go and have your meals, especially if you like local Malay fares and Nasi Padang. Food court seems clean and lots of stalls to choose from. At the same level, there's plenty of stores selling clothings for the Muslim community and for kids too. The wet market is huge and reasonably priced, some can be cheaper here.

All halal shops, fresh items like chicken, mutton and fish Even salmon is available but need to order one day prior

Excellent wet market for Muslims, or other religious persuasion buying non-pork items. Countless stalls selling all the meats that are acceptable to Muslims. Fish stalls are also in abundance. Most stalls are closed on Mondays.

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
