  • We went to Geylang Serai Market for late lunch / early dinner. It seems almost all the food stalls are either already closed or have not opened yet - no idea. So, not much food selection / variety. Th...  more »

  • Convenient choices to make a short stop and buy dry or wet items.. and you also can find food court here.. and so much more for cheaper souvenirs.
  • Its always so vibrant with people doing their daily or weekly marketing stuff. People atmosphere are friendly. Remind me of the 60s.
  • The food selection is far greater than that of any western food gathering, while most of the food is of Asian origins (which makes it tastier) there are some western options (eggs on toast) and they are not great, but that isn't the reason of going to a hawker hall, the food quality of everything else is fantastic, there is even a secret union going on in there (I identified it as the gas bottle union, if you looked it wouldn't be hard to notice why). The real only downside is the facilities, they stink (literally) and they don't look like they had been cleaned in years, also when they have some durian laying around, that isn't too pleasant either, but all of that adds to the character of the place. If you are after a good quality hawker hall then this is the one for you.
  • Visit this market to experience another side of Singapore. Fish and meat here are fresh and cheap. Not frozen like super markets. It can get a bit crowded and smelly but that's the part of experiencing life in Singapore. I think this place is more of a heritage thingy. If you are an angmoh reading this then you must definitely visit this place.
  • Best place for fresh and reasonable prices fish and meat. Not that hygienic and clean though with water splashing down on the floor in the fish market

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
