Former Ford Factory, Singapore

(4.1/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
The monumental Former Ford Factory is not only the site of the city’s first manufacturer of Henry Ford’s automobiles in the early 20th century; it is also historically significant to the nation’s World War II efforts and struggles. Head here to be in the same space where the British formally surrendered to the Japanese, who went on to occupy Singapore in a brutal regime that lasted three years from 1942 to 1945. Survey the collection of memories, reflections, and artifacts that speak of the darkest, but also most resilient and brave period in modern Singaporean history. Plan your visit to Former Ford Factory and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Singapore itinerary builder.

  • Visited it before renovations. Good preservation of building and the famous conference room where the British surrender took place. Historically significant as it represented the worst defeat of the British army and the fall of Singapore. However, the low profile and isolation of the place belies its importance.
  • Closed for renervation will re open in 2017 shame would have liked to see it
  • Come enjoy a piece of Singapore's history here. Open to the public it pays remembrance to the key events leading up to Singapore's surrender during the world war 2
  • For the history buffs, this place is where exactly the British surrendered Singapore to the Japanese during the 2nd World War. Small and cozy museum, but worth a visit at least once :)
  • Nice place to know singapore history
