Esplanade Park, Singapore

4.3
#22 of 70 in Parks in Singapore
Get at the heart of the city with a visit to Esplanade Park, one of the country's oldest public parks. Originally built in 1943, the park has since seen the addition of many important landmarks, including a trail dedicated to Queen Elizabeth, an army monument, cenotaph, fountain, and memorial. The promenade follows the bay of the marina and provides a vantage point of the waterfront and city skyline. You'll often find a refreshing breeze flow in from the water and shade under the tree canopies from the sun. Small local vendors set up kiosks selling drinks and snacks, and the odd local performer plays soft background music. • A must see in Singapore. Great place to hang out with children, would definitely recommend an evening visit. During our visit, for 3 consecutive nights, there was free open air Jazz concert. The park ...  more »

  • Great experience walking around the park and the marina! Easy photography of the iconic Marina Bay Sands, Merlion and Singapore Flyer.
  • A hidden find - perfect for a 5yo. We discovered this by accident, but ended up spending half the day here. My daughter just loved the playground - especially the bells.
  • Great outdoor space, with great views of the esplanade bridge and the city hall and the padang. Would have given a 5 star rating if there was a public toilet conveniently located .
  • Maybe it's good if you're coming here for an event, but during the day there isn't much shade and not that much to see as a tourist.
  • I like this park. Had a number of photo opportunities and it was on the way to mall and art theater.

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
