Clarke Quay, Singapore

4.3
#2 of 141 in Shopping in Singapore
Party the night away at Clarke Quay. Once a historical port and cargo center, the quay now throbs with energy as one of Singapore's liveliest night spots. Explore the refurbished warehouse buildings to find shopping by day and parties by night. Before you head to the clubs, fill up with a meal at one of the quay's many restaurants. Capture a memory of your evening by taking a selfie at the Social Wall, a mural especially designed for sharing on social media. I visited Clarke Quay twice during my Singapore trip, once by boat and then on foot. Both visits were during the day and there wasn't a whole lot going on, by the looks of the place things probably pick up some in the evening. There were shops, restaurants, and pubs, I did have lunch at one of the restaurants, I'll review that at another time. From what I understand this area has quite a history that stretches back some 200 years, some of the old structures (my favorite part) have been restored and there are new structures as well. The whole area is quite nice, very colorful and clean with the Singapore river running through the center. I will have to experience Clarke Quay at night on my next visit.

Used to think this mall is a no-man's-land but was leasantly surprised that the mall have so much more new and interesting tenants! Part from a supermarket, everything else is as complete as it gets (food glorious food!) . Very well connected to other parts of town too.

Love this place. Has an amazing variety places to eat or go party at. It is a bit pricey but a low cost, really nice to place to eat at is Shiraz (the stall not the sit down restaurant). Sitting on the bridge or by the river is an amazing experience as well to take in the Singapore river with the Clark Quay lights is an amazing experience. Try to go on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid the crowd.

It's a beautiful place to visit. Especially at night. It's usually crowded with people and travelers hanging out for drinks and having romantic dinner. A place you should visit. Lots of amazing attractions too.

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
