CHIJMES, Singapore
(3.9/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Combine modern entertainment with spiritual history at CHIJMES, a multi-purpose hall that was once a Catholic convent. The original convent, called Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus, was built in 1840, with an additional chapel constructed in 1904; it operated for over 100 years. Located on Victoria Street in the city's main business district, this Gothic-style complex has since been named a national monument and been converted into a commercial destination. View the architecture, browse the shops, enjoy fine dining, or come for a special event. • Great food, wonderful ambiance, so historic, excellent lay out. A must see even on a short trip. Very close to many attractions.
  • It is a beautiful place with a sad history, orphanage and church destroyed during the second world war, people killed during the Japanese occupation. The Church recovered for events and the venue for restaurants and bars and a central square. There are photos of what it used to be but nothing more, and a small museum. Very nice night, pleasant lighting, live music and happy hours. Quite, quite rare so that should visit it.

  • Came over for a wedding and was blown away. Absolutely stunning inside, and made the wedding 11/10. Would recommend anyone trying to find a great location to consider here.

  • A Beautiful scenic place in the heart of Singapore where fine dining meets entertainment a great place to relax and have a drink with friends. Dates back some 175 yrs and originated as the neoclassical convent. It was named the convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ) hence the name. Slightly expensive but we'll worth a visit.
  • Lots of history behind this gothic styled church. Good to explore around. Many eateries too for different taste bud.
  • One of the few places to go in Singapore if you love gothic architecture and alcohol. That said, the ToastBox there has a pretty sweet decor.
  • Beautiful architectural building, there are event and meets up on weekends. Full with expensive restaurant. Good place for walking and stop-by taking some pictures. I recommend to go there on evening time on weekend.
  • Nightview and the atmosphere is awesome ! But the price of food of shops in chijmes are quite expensive 😢
