Historic Site Tourist Spot
Combine modern entertainment with spiritual history at Chijmes, a multi-purpose hall that was once a Catholic convent. The original convent, called Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus, was built in 1840, with an additional chapel constructed in 1904; it operated for over 100 years. Located on Victoria Street in the city's main business district, this Gothic-style complex has since been named a national monument and been converted into a commercial destination. View the architecture, browse the shops, enjoy fine dining, or come for a special event. • Restaurants are located in the building itself but former convent just looks very neat, is impressed. Singapore is an image of the British colony, but this monastery is built by France who nun. Very clean has been repaired.

  • The place have a very great atmosphere. Many restaurants and bars to choose from! It's a very nice cozy place with great scenery that you can go with your loved ones. Also a fun place that you can go during late nights to watch musical performances in bars.
  • Lots of bar and eateries. Some places will have ramps and what not. Not sure if there's ab elevator to get to the basement level. Had a great dinner there too. Chijmes also had an interesting history as once being a school for the deaf.
  • I went during the early afternoon. They are a numerous amounts of restaurants in the area. There were numerous family's in the grass areas. The church was beautiful. Closed for an event. It's hard to believe it was once a complex that began life as a Catholic convent known as the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus.
  • Beautiful setting with great restaurants. The bars are kind of iffy tho. Good place to catch sporting events projected on the big screen.
  • A good place to chilled out and relax in the city. Location and environment is convenient and nice. Numbers of bar and restaurants available

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
