Chijmes, Singapore

4.1
Combine modern entertainment with spiritual history at Chijmes, a multi-purpose hall that was once a Catholic convent. The original convent, called Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus, was built in 1840, with an additional chapel constructed in 1904; it operated for over 100 years. Located on Victoria Street in the city's main business district, this Gothic-style complex has since been named a national monument and been converted into a commercial destination. View the architecture, browse the shops, enjoy fine dining, or come for a special event. Make Chijmes a centerpiece of your Singapore vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Singapore holiday builder website .

  • This place is very lively and vivid especially on weekends. Ideally located across the Carlton hotel, it surely will please those of you looking for affordable drinks in a chilled and relaxed atmosphere (Happy hours on night time anyone?) The music is loud, the bars and terraces are busy but it’s worth the shot. I love the open space in the middle with the giant flat screens. Last but not least the servers are really prompt and courteous. I recommend that place.
  • Perfect! From food to drinks to atmosphere! Great place to dine and chill. Happy hour, music, good service, everything was great! Perfect for birthday celebration as well. (ask for complimentary cake) Just remember to make reservation. Awesome place!
  • Bars and Restaurants inside a old Church, that's weird for a European! But it's location is good and they have a fine selection of food's, drinks and beer. You should stop by when it's dark, then the white church stands out the most from the surrounding skyscrapers. I was here watching a ski race on the big TV screens, definitely a special place, sitting in the singaporean evening heat inside a church with a beer and watching ski drivers.
  • Historical building and area that has it's own selection of bars and diners. The crowd here is generally quieter and less rowdy in comparison to what you'll find in the neighbouring Clarke quay, so if you're looking for somewhere with a more mature audience and live band music, this is your place
  • Nice place.. Best for drinking.. Can get fair beer. Not too cheap.. Not too expensive

Where to stay in Singapore

For leading chain hotels, head to the area around Orchard Road, considered the tourist center of Singapore due to its varied selection of rooms, good travel links, and tourist-focused businesses. At the eastern end of the road, you'll find more luxurious and expensive options, with hotels located in impressive colonial-era architecture. North and south of this main artery, backpacker hostels and budget hotels provide affordable rooms with basic facilities.
