CHIJMES, Singapore
(3.9/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Combine modern entertainment with spiritual history at CHIJMES, a multi-purpose hall that was once a Catholic convent. The original convent, called Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus, was built in 1840, with an additional chapel constructed in 1904; it operated for over 100 years. Located on Victoria Street in the city's main business district, this Gothic-style complex has since been named a national monument and been converted into a commercial destination. View the architecture, browse the shops, enjoy fine dining, or come for a special event. • Beautiful setting of restaurants next to a church. Slightly above average price wise, but worth it just for the location Would definitely go back there if we returned to Singapore
  • Originally a monastery, bombed by the Japanese during the war. It was being used as an orphanage. A wedding reception in process so I didn't get to go all the way in. Absolutely beautiful. Across from...  more »

  • A Beautiful scenic place in the heart of Singapore where fine dining meets entertainment a great place to relax and have a drink with friends. Dates back some 175 yrs and originated as the neoclassical convent. It was named the convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ) hence the name. Slightly expensive but we'll worth a visit.
  • Lots of history behind this gothic styled church. Good to explore around. Many eateries too for different taste bud.
  • One of the few places to go in Singapore if you love gothic architecture and alcohol. That said, the ToastBox there has a pretty sweet decor.
  • Beautiful architectural building, there are event and meets up on weekends. Full with expensive restaurant. Good place for walking and stop-by taking some pictures. I recommend to go there on evening time on weekend.
  • Nightview and the atmosphere is awesome ! But the price of food of shops in chijmes are quite expensive 😢
