Bintan Resort Ferries Pte Ltd began operations in 1994 from then World Trade Centre (now known as Harbour Front). Operations shifted to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in late August 1995. Each trip to Bintan takes about an hour.

BRF operates four catamaran ferries. The first two - a 270-seat Aria Bupala and a 306-seat Indera Bupala were built in 1994 when the company first started operations. Two new generation 42 meter ferries the Wan Seri Beni and Wan Sendari were added to the BRF Fleet in 2009. Built by Damen Shipyards, Netherlands, the newer vessels are able to operate at cruising speeds in excess of 37 knots and feature high tech navigation and engineering monitoring systems. In addition, the ferries also include hardware that improve the stability in choppy seas allowing a smoother ride for passengers. Each ferry has 300 seats, 57 of which are allocated to a premium "Emerald Class". Passengers in the premium class can skip the queue for immigration clearance on arrival in Bintan, and let specially assigned staff take care of the process for them.
Bintan Resort Ferries is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Singapore Edition.

  • The boat ride was okay, seats were very comfortable. The boat was really hot though, no air conditioning or opening windows made for a fairly uncomfortable 1 hour ride. It got us to where we wanted to...  more »
  • Ok so I don’t swim so the thought of being on a ferry made me nervous but oh mine, I enjoyed close to 1 hour cruise from Singapore to Bintang on this ferry. I barely felt the waves of the magnificent ...  more »
  • We had a pleasant journey to and from Bintan on the Bintan Resort Ferry, we paid the extra for the Emerald Class and had access to the lounge. I would say that the only criticism was the lack of snack...  more »

  • Travelled economy as club med purchased tickets, wasn’t aware of emerald ticket option. Trip was about 40 min & pleasant without issues, processing at Bintan was okay, return trip processing through customs was a Joke about 90min, there were some passengers being escorted to be processed quicker & expect this was Emerald class, so would pay extra for these benefits at Singapore end.
  • Not a huge fan of the setup here. Check-in was quick, and immigration speedy, but the boarding experience and pier walk left a lot to be desired. The departure gates all lead to the same jetty meaning you have to be careful to get on the correct ferry if there's more than one departing. There is no queuing system, and the ferries are free seating, so there's a scrum to get through the departure gates. Once on the ferry, there is limited storage and can be large queues whilst people stuff their bags in to the provided racks. The furnishing / decor is in need of a refresh. Food was sub par with hot dogs as the main (only) meal you could have, with a steamed bun... Having used several island hopping ferries around the region, this one needs some improvement to get some more stars!!!
  • PATHETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE in SG!! I called them (SG office) to sort out the issue I was facing with their online booking system. The lady I spoke to, told me she needed to speak to the management & put me on hold. After 20 mins on hold, we got disconnected. I called back to find out from her colleague that the lady I spoke to, went to have lunch while I was still on hold!! Outrageous!
  • Check internet not enuff, just call them to check schedule.
  • I must say,the service is good ,,, & i love this place.....
