Studenica Monastery, Serbia

4.9
The World Heritage Site represents one of the greatest Serb Orthodox monasteries in existence. Dating back to the 12th century, this Romanesque and the Byzantine complex features fortification walls and two churches surrounded by vivid gardens and rolling hills. When visiting, you'll need to follow the winding forest roads that lead to this white marble structure--the mother-church of all Serbian temples. Once there, take photos of the sights and enter the quiet monastery, filled with 13th- and 14th-century Byzantine-style frescos. View centuries-old artifacts and priceless treasures. The complex looks impeccable, despite countless Ottoman attacks and a devastating earthquake in the 17th century. • One of the most beautiful monasteries that surround the Valley of Raska. Built as a fortress with housing and churches within the ruins of the monks. The rimsta Church is beautiful with precious frescoes. To visit

  • Monastery located on a mountain, where you feel the nature. All the sweat back is green in the Romanesque style dating from aso. There's an entrance with columns with the 12 Apostles. The set consists of three churches: One large and two small. They're trying to recover the paintings of icons in the main church, keeping the original colors. The dome + and high. In the Church of the King, one of the small, the paintings that adorn are in good condition. The entire set is impeccably clean and treaty. Worth the visit

  • Beautiful medieval monastery with three completely preserved churches. Inside you can see original frescoes. There's also a small museum with some historical artifacts. Certainly recommended!
  • A beautiful, fairy tale like place. Both outside and inside - the paintings are amazing. Some are being renewed right now, but still definately worth seeing
  • Very nice place to visit.
  • a humbling experience. the undecaying remains of St. Simeon (St. Sava's father) which are over nine centuries old are awe inspiring...
  • Beautiful little monastery in southern Serbia. There was a helpful guide who told us about the history of the monastery in entire detail.
