  • Sirmium: Imperial seat since the end of the second century. If you pass near Sremska Mitrovica, the stage is a must. The ruins of the Imperial Palace (all indoor) are really well preserved and you pay a modest entrance fees (type the equivalent of € 1.50). There's also a part of the remains of Circum. Really interesting. The town does not offer much more: toccata and Fugue, also because it lacks facilities.

  • Serbia is littered with Roman ruins and these are a few more, are well maintained and under cover. You can see remains of the Palace and other dependencies. If you see these in Sreska Mitrovica to see them; paid entry, but rather is symbolic a price at least for Europeans

  • Ruins of ancient roman palace under the roof, very nice. Staff didn't speak english, but doesn't matter, brochure was in english. Entrance is very cheap, around 1 euro per person:)  more »

  • Historical and interesting Roman site to see. Sirmium was occupied during Tiberius’ wars in Pannonia (13-9 B.C.), and the city was granted the status of a colony (colonia Flavia) under the Flavian dynasty (69-96 A.D.).
  • Very nice ruins of Roman emperial palace. Sirmium (Sremska Mitrovica) was one of the capitals of Roman Empire and this palace is one of the most important of all emperial palaces for the time of Rome. Very nice presentation. Strongly recommended!
  • Limited opening hours visit to the excavation.
