Petrovaradin Fortress, Petrovaradin

(4.4/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
At one of the highest points of Petrovaradin fortress sits Petrovaradin Fortress, an old Baroque tower with one clock face on each of its four sides, featuring reversed hour and minute hands. Rebuilt in the 18th century, the 2 m (6.6 ft) clock helped fishermen know the approximate time from afar by seeing only the hour hand. Jokingly dubbed "the drunken clock," it reportedly runs fast during the summer months and lags behind in winter. Visit the site and check the accuracy of this local landmark for yourself. From here you'll also get unmatched views of the river and the rooftops below. • The clock was nice but nothing special. Next of it was great views to city though. It is one of the main sightseeing in Novi Sad
  • The clock on the fortress of Petrovaradine was made by the same watchmaker than raz. It has the particularity that the minute hand shows hours and little of the minutes. The "idea is to view the time by far. It is the symbol of the city and tourists will never fail to take pictures.
