Petrovaradin Fortress, Petrovaradin
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
At one of the highest points of Petrovaradin fortress sits Petrovaradin Fortress, an old Baroque tower with one clock face on each of its four sides, featuring reversed hour and minute hands. Rebuilt in the 18th century, the 2 m (6.6 ft) clock helped fishermen know the approximate time from afar by seeing only the hour hand. Jokingly dubbed "the drunken clock," it reportedly runs fast during the summer months and lags behind in winter. Visit the site and check the accuracy of this local landmark for yourself. From here you'll also get unmatched views of the river and the rooftops below.
