Mecavnik, Mokra Gora

(120+ reviews on the web)
Landmark
Sitting atop a picturesque hill, Mecavnik represents a settlement from the imagination of the film director Emir Kusturica, featuring wooden houses and museums in a rustic setting. Inspired by his own movie "Life is a Miracle," Kusturica created a place loyal to tradition and rebelling against routine, lost between reality and fairy tales. Here you'll see centuries-old log cabins that were transported in pieces and rebuilt at the site, as well as a car that was eaten by pigs in one of his movies. Walk along paved wooden cubes, encounter surreal sculptures, and visit galleries of art and poetry. The site also has a church, accommodations, and numerous recreational and entertainment facilities, including a swimming pool, fitness club, and disco. Our Mokra Gora holiday planner makes visiting Mecavnik and other Mokra Gora attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Emir Kusturica created this amazing village located in west Serbia. The area is called Mokra Gora. The nature is beautiful and wild with a lot of hills, green forest, animals and flowers The village is his dreamworld with idea of "back to basic". It is his Utopia. The houses are made of wood, the food and bevarage is organic in the restaurants. There is a hotel inside the village, and you really get value for money. Amazing place worth to visit. I have been there 4 times and will come again.
  • A must see - a city built by Emir Kusturica on a hill top, having everything: guest apartments, pubs, cinema, heliodrom, church, pool, kindergarden, playgound, library... Surrounded by great nature.
  • A very nice way to spend a few hours, there are a couple of nice restaurants, a hotel, a cake shop with delicious desserts and great coffee, a tennis court, etc. The whole complex is well composed with authentic wooden buildings. A little problem is the parking place, especially during the weekends when the place is pretty much crowded. Definitely worth visiting, especially if you can spend a weekend for the trip in this part of Serbia. You can spend some time in the Zlatibor mountain, try the authentic tour through wonderful landscape using the famous Sarganska osmica railway, take a break at Drvengrad, visit beautiful Tara mountain, and then continue to Bosnia, where you can spend some pleasant time in Kamengrad, take a photo and walk on the bridge, which is one of the central figures in the novel "Na Drini cuprija", written by Serbian Nobel Prize winner, Ivo Andric
  • I was there in summer for a coffee break during our trip from Belgrade to Sarajevo. Lovely traditional village built for director Emir Kusturica and his film " Life is a miracle". Location is quiet, relaxing and surrounded by mountains. You can book rooms and sleep there, there are also bars, restaurants, a spa and a swimming pool.
  • Beautiful natur,throw back in time,etno..vrijedi vidjeti,dozivjeti!
