Categories: Civic Centers, Historic Walking Areas, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.4/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web
Head to Trg Republike, arguably the city's most famous meeting spot and a central hub surrounded by cafes and contemporary restaurants. Lying at the very heart of the capital, the site also hosts notable buildings like the National Museum and the National Theatre. You'll probably see people gathered "by the horse"--the prominent statue of Prince Mihajlo, erected in 1882 to commemorate the successful expulsion of the Ottomans from Serbia after centuries of occupation. Snap photos of the monuments and have a drink or meal at one of the nearby venues. After a walk in this culturally abundant area, you can catch a bus here to virtually any other point in the city. Trg Republike is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Belgrade Edition.

  • With the pedestrian area of Knez Mihaijla at the center of the city is a place where you must drink a coffee when you visit Belgrade
  • It is a square, large stores and bus stops are concentrated, is at the heart of the city. In front of National Museum was (at the time visited the still closed), tourist office and souvenir store nearby. It is useful when you go to tourist attractions in Belgrade square itself is not particularly distinctive, landmark and meeting place.
