Trg Republike, Belgrade

3.5
#2 of 28 in Shopping in Serbia
Head to Trg Republike, arguably the city's most famous meeting spot and a central hub surrounded by cafes and contemporary restaurants. Lying at the very heart of the capital, the site also hosts notable buildings like the National Museum and the National Theatre. You'll probably see people gathered "by the horse"--the prominent statue of Prince Mihajlo, erected in 1882 to commemorate the successful expulsion of the Ottomans from Serbia after centuries of occupation. Snap photos of the monuments and have a drink or meal at one of the nearby venues. After a walk in this culturally abundant area, you can catch a bus here to virtually any other point in the city. Take a look at our Belgrade road trip website to schedule your visit to Trg Republike and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • True nerve centre of Belgrade. From here the roads to the beaches, the main passage of all bus routes, pedestrian areas ... Full of bars and cafes and shops and always manned by police for a walk in peace and security

  • Night people, very busy, packed with restaurants around, a lot of people sitting and outdoor restaurants to eat and talk, and boutique store, connected to Mihailo Duke Street, ideal for shopping, the landscape is far from what.
