Trg Republike, Belgrade
(3.3/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Head to Trg Republike, arguably the city's most famous meeting spot and a central hub surrounded by cafes and contemporary restaurants. Lying at the very heart of the capital, the site also hosts notable buildings like the National Museum and the National Theatre. You'll probably see people gathered "by the horse"--the prominent statue of Prince Mihajlo, erected in 1882 to commemorate the successful expulsion of the Ottomans from Serbia after centuries of occupation. Snap photos of the monuments and have a drink or meal at one of the nearby venues. After a walk in this culturally abundant area, you can catch a bus here to virtually any other point in the city. Trg Republike is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Belgrade Edition.

  • TRG is the central or main square of the city of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is a monument to Prince Mykhaylo, National Museum (currently under renovation), the national theatre and near many other attractions.
