4.8/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web
Featured in numerous articles, including in the Atlas Obscura, Ružica features a facade covered in greenery and chandeliers made of weapons. Pressed up against the walls of the Belgrade fortress, the church has a history dating back to the 14th century, after which it was destroyed and rebuilt several times; the present construction is from 1925. During the 1700s, soldiers kept their gunpowder inside, and in the 19th century it served as a military church. Enter the cave-like chamber to see vivid frescoes and the famous chandeliers wrought from cannon ammunition, officers' swords, and pistols. Take time to view the medieval-style yards adorning the fort's base. Using our online itinerary creator, Belgrade attractions like Ružica can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • A beautiful old cute Serbian Orthodox Church. A special experience was invited to witness the wedding of a friendly couple in this typical Orthodox feel-good atmosphere. Chorale sounds. Stimmstarke priest and unusual Riten. homely, somewhat Home Affairs. And the wonderful location of the small church ingrown from vines over the Sava, overlooking the confluence of the Danube. This pardon the somewhat intrusive beggars that the divine atmosphere taking advantage of waiting guests ;-)
