The National Museum is the largest and oldest museum in Serbia and former Yugoslavia. It is located in the central zone of Belgrade on a square area between the Republic Square, former Theatre Square, and three streets Čika Ljubina, Vasina and Laze Pačua. Its main facade is on the Republic Square. The museum was established on May 10, 1844. Since it was founded, its collection has grown to over 400,000 objects, including many foreign masterpieces. Currently, the museum is closed for renovation.The National Museum building was declared a Monument of Culture of Great Importance in 1979.

  • We passed by the central zone of Belgrade in front of Republic Square and found that the museum was closed on ground of intensive renovation. This museum was established in 1844, was the oldest one in...  more »
  • It is still closed and people there are used to it now. I have asked a waitress if it's open for visiting, at least some parts of it, i should have checked TripAdvisor first...

  • A lot of to see. Very interesting things not only about Serbian culture.
  • A must visit - especially after being renovated.
  • The building is nice, but is closed for renovation.
