Originally the site served as Tito's winter garden and resting area. As part of the present Museum of Yugoslav History complex, it has seen more than 17.5 million visitors since its opening in 1982, even though it was closed for over a decade. Take a self-guided tour of this 902 sq m (9,710 sq ft) house with lush gardens and browse gifts, letters, and photographs of the president. You'll also see a number of Yugoslav-era keepsakes and a collection of batons that were symbolically used to carry Tito's birthday greetings throughout the country.   • It was interesting to see what kind of man Josip Broz Tito was. I've heard a lot about him, both good and bad, so it was really interesting to see what he actually did for the country during his time.

  • This museum and mausoleum is not particularly large and doesn't take too long to see. It is not overly grand or tacky like similar sites in communist countries. It's actually done quite tastefully. It's a little far from the centre of town and probably not a priority if you're short of time but worth seeing if you can, just for the significance of how important this man was to the past century's history.

The diverse array of hotels includes everything from chain hotels to boutique establishments and bed and breakfasts, running the gamut in terms of luxury and price. With some exceptions, most hotels cluster in the city center or just a short walk or commute away. Young visitors attracted to Belgrade’s nightlife book beds or rooms in the numerous hostels.
