Belgrade Zoo, Belgrade
(3.4/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
Known as one of Europe's oldest zoos, Belgrade Zoo houses some 2,000 animals from 270 species, right in the center of the capital city. Its collection of white lions is one of the largest in the world, and reportedly the oldest alligator known to man lives here. Stretching across 7 hectares (17 acres) of hilly landscaped terrain, the zoo features thematic zones, such as Africa, Australia, and birds of prey. Walk among different habitats and encounter wild and domestic animals of all sizes and shapes. Visit the petting zoo to play with the youngest residents, or buy a bag of peanuts to feed the zoo's elephants. Children can also ride ponies at the site. • This is the worst Zoo I have ever visited! Most of big animals are kept in small, inadequate cages, looking frustrated and the hygiene is really bad. Living conditions of animals that require water ar...  more »

  • Horrendous. This derelict zoo should be closed down. It's pure cruelty and animal abuse, from raptors birds confined in tiny dirty cages to a half blind seal paddling in few inches of green water not to mention the trotting demented pony, the hippos barely fitting in their muddy pool or the sadly drifting crocodile. This zoo is an inhumane ordeal. Shame on whoever are in charge.
  • This zoo is HORRIFYING. TERRIBLE to its animals and should be shut down!!!! This is insane that they can even be called a Zoo. Zoos are meant to preserve these SACRED animals. These people are cruel and heartless. Anybody who loves animals should never spend a single dollar at this zoo. They need to sell their animals to SAFE zoos if they can not take care of them. They abuse their animals hygienically and need to provide proper care. I hope people protest their mistreatment of animals. ANY REVIEW ON HERE THAT SAYS THIS PLACE IS EVEN HALF DECENT IS LYING
  • I'm so disgusted by this zoo! I never believe animals should be kept for anyone's entertainment, especially when they're abused. I saw nothing but cruelty! How evil can this zoo be? It needs to be shut down! They only care for profit and let those poor animals suffer! Disgusting evil human beings! Those animals look so broken down because of sick inviduals caring more about money they earn! Please stay away!! 😖😔
  • Pictures of your polar bear suffering from filthy conditions, having to dwell next to a cesspool instead of a pond and suffering from an obvious neurological ailment whilst soiling himself are shocking and inhumane. Trying to call Belgrade Zoo - no answer. This should be regulated by the EU. If this is how Serbia treats animals-stay out! Whoever is responsible for this abomination and those many more inflicted on poor, sentient beings should be held responsible to the last. Here's looking at you.
  • Nice l interesting enviroment, relaxing, clean, good fun for youngs and older.
