#1 of 40 in Parks in Serbia
Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
Known as one of Europe's oldest zoos, Belgrade Zoo houses some 2,000 animals from 270 species, right in the center of the capital city. Its collection of white lions is one of the largest in the world, and reportedly the oldest alligator known to man lives here. Stretching across 7 hectares (17 acres) of hilly landscaped terrain, the zoo features thematic zones, such as Africa, Australia, and birds of prey. Walk among different habitats and encounter wild and domestic animals of all sizes and shapes. Visit the petting zoo to play with the youngest residents, or buy a bag of peanuts to feed the zoo's elephants. Children can also ride ponies at the site. • Visiting this zoo really upset me. The standards for the animals are so much lower than any zoo I've ever been to. The horses were kept in an enclosure of brick and looked very skinny. I cried when we...  more »
  • It is very well taken care of, with plenty of animals, the children will be delighted. Do not miss it when visiting Kalemegdan.  more »

  • Nice place for a walk around. Small but cute. Parking is good and could be combined with the nearby fortress and park.
  • I really enjoyed the zoo. They had lots of different animals (which were large and looked healthy). The zoo is undergoing a large refit, we couldn't walk through some of the far side. They had a big selection of big cats and wolfs. Great zoo and will be returning next time in belgrade!
  • A cute city zoo with a variety of animals, lots of tigers and jaguars, very busy on the weekends, best to go in the afternoon, when animals seem to be most active. On the downside, some cages were really sad looking, too small for the wolves residing there, and some cheetahs, in the bright side, there is a baby hippo and three wolf cubs, a nice addition for the children to observe, made our day.
  • Unfortunately I have to give a low mark for this zoo. This is simply not the place for keeping any human being. The space is so tight and small. I feel sad for all the animals who doesn't have proper space to even stretch their legs. Not to mention that they doesn't look good at all (I'm not the expert, but to me they look either very old or sick). Center of the city shouldn't be the place for the Zoo!
  • Nice place to visit with children. Some animal accommodation could be better. It is obvious stuff is trying they best. Get ready for some walk.
