King's Fountain, Jeddah

#1 of 35 in Things to do in Jeddah
Fountain Tourist Spot
Fed by saltwater from the Red Sea, King's Fountain represents one of the tallest fountains in the world, shooting into the sky a single plume of water. Visible across Jeddah, the fountain was completed in 1985, donated to the city by King Fahd. The iconic landmark is visible from many vantage points, but remains most impressive when viewed from the shoreline. Head to the water's edge and see the sheer force of the single fountain jet, lit up as the sun goes down for that picture-perfect moment. • The fountain is impressive in the height that the water sprays, the corniche on the other hand is a nice walk - can be a bit crowded in the evenings. Ice cream/snack shops all over.  more »
  • Right on the Jeddah cornich. Nice to be sat around on the sea side. Watching the fountain with an ice cream. :) after a long working day.  more »

  • Built in the early 80's, The King Fahd fountain pumps saltwater vertically at speeds reaching 370 km/h to a height of +260 meters making it the world's tallest. It operates daily starting right before sunset and a must if you are visiting Jeddah.
  • This fountain is a " ICON " on Red Sea @ Jeddah Cornish. Its a beautiful land mark which can be viewed from long distance.
  • Staring such a huge fountain in the middle of the sea, even more when it's fully lighted during the night, is really impressive.
  • Nice view on Jeddah's corniche but usually very crowdy
  • King Fahad Fountain at Jeddah Corniche is a beautiful sight, specially during windy days where the wind blows the fountain shower to farther angular distance, creating a spectacular view. On the day of Saudi Arabia independence day, the Saudi flag is usually seen as projected on the fountain shower, creating an amazing view. It has indeed become a symbol for Jeddah.

Where to stay in Jeddah

A major pilgrimage and commercial site with large numbers of visitors year-round, Jeddah offers a wide range of accommodations, ranging from low-budget to super deluxe. Hotels spread primarily along the north part of the town port, with another large cluster found in Mecca. Beachfront establishments can be found predominantly in Atallah Happy Land Park in the north, and in Al Hamra’a next to the port, while budget hotels are scattered around Al Faisaliyah. You can find most major international chain hotels throughout the city. Outside Hajj season, accommodation in Jeddah is generally cheaper than that in Riyadh.
