Guaita, City of San Marino

4.7
The vision of Guaita sitting high above the surrounding city represents one of the most recognizable images the country. Its tower, built in the 11th century and previously used as a prison, is one of three that can be seen on the national flag and the nation's coat of arms. Climb to the top for panoramic views of the region. The surrounding area is quite developed, offering restaurants and shops. Use our City of San Marino itinerary planner to add Guaita and other attractions to your City of San Marino vacation plans.

Very funny that there is such a old Republic is located in Italy. Beautiful old town, 3 beautiful towers and shops (leather, alcohol, guns, general tourist knick-knacks). It is cheaper than in Italy, you can fine parking (among other things in a parking garage. With the is you stand so in the old town). From the old centre you have a beautiful view to all sides. You can see the sea at Rimini.

The climb to the fortress and the view make this truly unique city, also the walk leads out from the bustle of shops that make trivial the tour in the historic center

We had to visit this tower as the children were a little tired. But while it's beautiful: total disorientation and everything is beautiful. Can be mounted at the top of the tower for the more adventurous and especially for people who do not suffer from Vertigo! Really to visit

  • This castle is, needless to say, a must visit of San Marino. Picturesque, scenic views of the Apennines and an unbelievably clear panorama of the coastal plains that stretches all the way to the Adriatic Sea. On a clear day, you can easily see the churches of Rimini from atop the hill using the telescope. It's quite amazing to think how the earliest inhabitants decided to settle here and constructed such mesmerizing structures that stood for over 700 years.
  • Historic, cultural, interesting, lots of little shops, not busy, absolutely fantastic views. the question is why wouldnt you come here if you are in san marino!!
  • It's a tower, a historic one. A bit of a walk to get to. Not at all handicapped friendly.
  • Great historical monument. Nice views from it.
  • The best place I've seen ever.
