Church
Explore the Neoclassical architecture of Basilica del Santo Marino, the main church within the city. Although this structure was built during the 1800s, the first church that occupied this spot was constructed during the 4th century. Enter the basilica to see the three large naves, green Neoclassical interior, numerous paintings, statues, and altars. Head back outside to see the Chiesa di San Pietro next to the front steps. This small building was built in 600 and reputedly houses the beds of San Marino and San Leo. Inside, look for a statue dedicated to St. Peter and a monument to Pope John XXII. • There's no reason to spend more than five or 10 minutes at this Basilica, but it's one of the more attractive churches (inside) that I have visited.  more »
  • Not the usual interior of a italian catholic church, but still very nice. Many sculptures inside and a few frescoes. Impressive exterior.  more »
  • Interesting basilica, kind of "hospital clean", not many ornaments or decorative elements, which also make it nice somehow ... worth to see  more »
