Visit Spassky (St Saviour) Monastery, home to the oldest building in the city--the monastery cathedral. Originally built in the 12th century, the monastery also served as a citadel. Look at the remains of a thick 16th-century fortification wall, mounted with watchtowers. Underground passageways once lead to the monastery dungeons and treasury within the walls. The monastery is part of a larger preserve, so you'll also have the chance to explore the museum collection, including the 12th-century manuscript, "The Tale of Igor's Campaign."
