Explore the collection of antique clocks, bells, samovars, old irons, phonographs, and musical instruments at Private museum Music and Time. John Mostoslavsky, a popular illusionist and magician, opened one of the first private museums in Russia in the early 1990s. His collection now occupies three historical buildings and features more than 1,000 bells and 10,000 records, none of which are hidden behind glass. Listen to the guides play popular tunes on the bells and unusual piano-organs. See how various gramophones and music boxes operate, while the clocks constantly chime. Guided tours are usually in Russian only. Put Private museum Music and Time into our Yaroslavl itinerary planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Well worth a visit. Located directly on the waterfront, includes several expositions. The first gramophones-gramafony, second-irons, and an exhibition of porcelain from the Soviet period. It's amazing what created this museum is a former artist who traveled on tour and brought exhibits over the years.
