Monument of Yaroslav the Wise (Mudry), Yaroslavl

4.2
Visit Monument of Yaroslav the Wise (Mudry) and see city's namesake. Yaroslav the Wise was a great medieval Russian ruler, as well as the founder of the city. According to legend, he used his halberd to kill a bear on the spot of the current Yaroslavl kremlin, and that's how the city got its coat of arms--a bear with a halberd--which you can see on the front of the monument. As the city's founder and protector, Yaroslav is depicted holding a sword and one of the kremlin towers. There are many good angles from which to take a photo; however, because it's on an isle in the middle of a busy traffic circle, you can't get very close to it. • Silhouette of monument to us very familiar image at 1000-ruble banknote. Monument in honor of the founder of the city, who gave him the name, appeared in the main square of Epiphany only at the very end of the 20th century. Although still in the 19th century there was a monument to Yaroslav, but he was pulled back in the Romanovs with the intention of putting more significant monument, but the intent was only in our time.

  • Monument meets all at the entrance to the city centre. In common "guy with cake." monument dedicated to the founder of the city of Yaroslavl-Yaroslav the wise. Many known by 1000-th banknote. The location of the monument is extremely unfortunate. If you want to take a picture, you put a lot of effort to do it. Around the monument around the clock transportation goes. In General, spend before this monument to time-not worth it.

  • A local resident said they called the sculpture "man with a cake" and it shows the degree of "respect" for the townsfolk to the monument. In the figure there is no loudspeakers, no movement, it seems to be just boring and static. Yaroslav in the left hand holds the mock turrets Spaso-preobrazhenskiy monastery with pieces of walls on each side. So in Europe portrayed mostly founders of cathedrals and churches. In the right hands-lowered down a sword that threatens no one and no one protects. It was designed to recall the peace-loving policy wise. Apparel Prince developed very conditionally, the hand gripping the handle of the sword. Person, by the way, developed by nice it guess dignity, commitment, fortitude and even wisdom. But a person just from afar and not consider only the zoomed pictures, or need to go to the monument with binoculars. On the pedestal attached the emblem of the city with a bear carrying important, and the inscription "Yaroslav the wise". There are other bas-reliefs depicting the Prince zakalyvajushhego spear the bear, then it's the same with a book and a woman with a scythe, but what they sense, if not come to the monument and its view on the sides? And generally that the city was founded by Yaroslav the wise, showed only his name, set the time of the Foundation of scientists, when Yaroslav and Rostov rules, yes a legend. The monument was opened in 1993 year, sculptor-architects-komov, n. Komova and a. Bobovich.

  • A monument to the founder of the city of Yaroslavl. Yaroslav the Wise is a symbol of the city and a must place to visit. He is depicted on the banknote of 1000 rubles
  • First theater 🎭 in Ussr.
  • Standing in the heart of the city, to "zero" kilometer Yaroslavl, in honor of the founder of the city. Many Russians know this monument as it is drawn on the tysjacherublevoj banknote. During the construction of the basement was discovered underground passage from the Museum towards Glavpochtampa. The monument was not very old, opened in 1993, but very significant for the city as a symbol of the Foundation!

  • The monument is presented in the guise of Yaroslav the wise, who holds a sword in one hand and in the other hand is a mock-up of the future city. A few missing sword shows peaceful political power of the Grand Duke. Pedestal is decorated with exquisite bas-reliefs, in which you can examine the coat of arms of the city of Yaroslavl, see image fight Yaroslav with terrible bear; here depicts a legend telling about what exactly led to the coat of arms. Bas-reliefs show sitting at work in the hands of the Prince, which is a book and a set of rules and laws, because when Yaroslav the wise was drafted "Russkaya Pravda"-a set of laws. Among the merit of this person, you can still mention the establishment of the first and largest library. From history we know that Prince had a daughter, whom he has married European Kings as much as possible to strengthen ties with the developed countries. The image of Prince on the monument completely corresponds to the original Canon, which appeared after his death. Judging from the more ancient Canon, borrowed from the varangian tribes, Yaroslav was portrayed with a short haircut, smoothly shaven and with small skosom hair that was presented as a symbol of greatness and nobility.
