Cathedral of the Assumption, Yaroslavl

(3.6/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Mounted by five gilded domes, Cathedral of the Assumption stands nearby where Yaroslav the Wise is said to have founded the city. The newest temple was built in 2010 to replace the 16th-century cathedral that was demolished by Communists in 1937. See the cathedral's original bells on display outside. Inside, admire the iconostasis and antique icons, which were donated by wealthy locals. Custom requires women to cover their heads when entering the church. Nearby attractions include an eternal flame and a monument to Russian soldiers who served during World War II. • The Cathedral is visible for several kilometers. Near very majestic and beautiful. The inside is blank, but the finishing work is going. Nearby stands the Bell Tower and the statue of the Holy Trinity. Once a day the priest hinders the motives, church bells charms

  • I must say that Yaroslavsky Uspensky Cathedral is a "newly", built one of the Russian oligarchs. He is a velichennuju copy of the Cathedral, standing on this place until the year 1937. In the best tradition of allegiance, to skirt the very large Bell for the future of the Bell Tower of the Cathedral suffered the then President of the Russian Federation — A.d. Medvedev. The construction of the belfry until UNESCO coordinates, because the Cathedral was built too high and the belltower should be even higher, that will break the architectural ensemble of the city.

  • The Cathedral is absolutely simple, not painted, of any value, as it seemed to me. It is clear that it was reconstructed, but absolutely nothing to watch there, unless of course you're not a pilgrim.
