Regarded as the turning point of World War II by many historians, the battle raged on from August 1942 to February 1943 and claimed approximately 1.5 million lives on both sides of the Russo-German conflict. Learn about the war in Russia and how Volgograd was devastated in one day. View a sword that was a gift to the city from the British empire to commemorate the Battle of Stalingrad, and Zaytsev's sniper rifles exhibit. The top floor, only accessible as part of a guided tour, features a 360-degree panoramic painting of the battlefield in 1942 from the location of the monument on Mamayev Kurgan. Four other panoramas depict battle scenes during different seasons. The exhibits only offer explanations in Russian so pre-order a guide in another language by calling ahead or use the website to book a bilingual guide.   • Is in the city centre, you can walk along the promenade and on the trolley, bus, a high-speed tram. Stop Lenin square, and down to the Volga. The mode of operation of the Museum, check by phone 8 (844) 255-00-83. Summer — from 10:00 to 18:00; Winter — from 10:00 to 17:00. Day-off — Monday. It is in this museum is the sword of Stalingrad Vasily Zaitsev, sniper rifle and mini sculpture donated by the city of Auguste Rodin's "the thinker".

  • Excellent, very informative and an interesting Museum of the battle of Stalingrad. Very pleased and Exposition and of course the gorgeous panorama. Liked the fact that there are many banners martial parts, many of the individual stories of the defenders of Stalingrad. I believe that everyone who arrived in Volgograd simply must visit this museum. There are audio guides, photography is allowed. Thank you very much for the Museum staff carefully stored memory.
