Mamayev Hill Monuments, Volgograd

(650+ reviews on the web)
Battlefield
The place where the Soviet army defeated Nazi Germany on the Eastern Front is marked by a number of memorial structures known as Mamayev Hill Monuments. This collection of monuments was constructed between 1959 and 1967 to honor the military men who fought and defeated Hitler's army in the Battle of Stalingrad during World War II. In addition to touring the site and viewing these memorial pieces, be sure to take in views of the city from the foot of the Motherland statue, an allegorical work by Yevgeny Vuchetich. The historical outdoor exhibitions and underground eternal flame are well worth a trip up the hill. • The strongest impression is visiting memorial complex of mother motherland! Simply breathtaking!

  • Were on Mamayev Kurgan, a few years ago. There were also at the feet of the mother. Next to it-as a small insect. Kowtow to the creators of this sculpture! Wall, Stalin Museum, enjoyed it and left a lasting impression, but the THING is when you go down down, inside the complex and goes to change the guard. Frost up on the skin! All majestically, sorrowfully, without bends, all exactly as you need without adding too much pomposity. It so happened that when we went to Prague, were also on the change of guard of honor and immediately remembered again Mamayev Kurgan. Compared. And not in favor of Prague. It seems like after Mamaeva mound, more leaves nothing. Definitely worth a visit, feel sorrow for the dead during the great patriotic war.

  • The complex was visited not once, but this is only a small part of the memory and respect for the feat of defenders of the fatherland! All adults all children-this is our story!
