S-56 Submarine Museum, Vladivostok

(3.9/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Board the legendary S-56 Submarine Museum through the hatchways to see how its heroic crew fought storms, survived torpedo attacks, and sank ten Nazi German ships during World War II. The submarine houses a museum devoted to the development of the Pacific Fleet's submarine forces. The last three of the seven sections are unchanged from the times of war. See the control room with the 9 m (30 ft) long periscope, the submarine's original tonnage board, and one opened torpedo. Look out for the "dried seaman," a mannequin, listening to the sound of the sea. • As it is only 100 Roubles to get in well worth the time (and it was warm inside on a winter’s day!). As expected, there is no English information but plenty of well laid out displays in the first part...  more »
  • If you are in town with the kids, then I advise you to visit the submarine c-56. Inside it is divided into two parts. At the beginning you will be able to see the history of the submarine fleet and the far East trays total in photos and exhibits, but then it will be interesting even to small children. Lot total: levers, valves, Periscope, torpedoes, even engine-Exposition a radio operator in the wheelhouse. True, many interesting details no longer amenable to influence. Maybe due to age and a layer of paint, and maybe it is made specifically to tourists once again not loosened the old design. Minus points for the first part of the boats removed a lot of mechanisms that have been so interesting for adults and children. If there is a desire and love for history, you can read the names of the brave soldier at a huge Memorial next to the boat. And, of course, is located near the eternal flame is a symbol of the nation's heroes. Be sure to visit this place if you can.
