Vitoslavitsy Museum of Folk Wooden Architecture, Veliky Novgorod
(4.8/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Immerse yourself in the everyday life of medieval Russia at Vitoslavitsy Museum of Folk Wooden Architecture, which features more than 20 original wooden structures dating from the 16th to the 19th century. Churches, chapels, and residential houses were collected from around the Novgorod region and then moved to this site in the 1960s. An authentically dressed guide will lead you down the village streets, along wrought-iron torch stands, peasant houses, vegetable gardens, windmills, and a bathhouse. Enter one of the houses, and try to imagine what it was like for several generations of the same family to share a single room--some sleeping above the stove and others in bench-beds. Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to Vitoslavitsy Museum of Folk Wooden Architecture by using our Veliky Novgorod family vacation planner.

  • Visited vitoslavicah in December 2016 g. Froze! But impressed with anything not comparable! Inspected houses, submerged in the life of the inhabitants of these houses. All unusual, all wondering ... In summer you can spend the whole day! The only minus, little shops, where one could sit and enjoy opened in front of you.

  • Really liked it. Visited the Museum family in November 2012, 2011. Previously were never in such. All huts and terema look pretty but not immediately clear that chic in the lives of ordinary Russian peasants had never existed. But we have a glimpse into the everyday life of our ancestors. Next to the Museum there is a fair of any crafts made of birch bark, ceramics and other materials, the prices are normal, we've just typed.

  • Traveled to Novgorod and, of course, visited Vitoslavlicy. For the second time here, and still wondering. The village consists of Russians huts brought from different cities, different years. In izby interiors relevant time. In each you can drop by and see how normal people lived in Russian villages. If you're in Vilikom Novgorod, then don't miss the opportunity to visit this museum.
