  • Walking through Jaroslavovu dvorishhu, decided to go with friends to the Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The Cathedral which stands nearly 900 years old, in my opinion, is the heart and the main attraction of Yaroslav's Court. Outwardly similar to the Sofiskij Cathedral. Entrance fee. Entrance ticket in March 2017 year amounted to 80 rub. You can take the audioguide (price 100 USD 1000 and USD deposit). By the way, you can take the audioguide for the entire Yaroslav's Court, and the Novgorod Kremlin. Inside the Cathedral is divided into 3 conventional zones. "Hall, ground floor and Cathedral itself. In the basement gift shop, a small exhibition, multimedia panorama (price of 80 rubles, but single tickets + Cathedral panorama worth 150 roubles) and the most interesting fragments of the fresco "the last judgement". However, admire a mural you need already prepared (after panorama or picture)-otherwise you will not see anything there. Take along an audio guide and Panorama makes no sense. The Cathedral is best admired from the audioguide. It's loud enough and enough of one to several people. Inside the Cathedral, many fragments of frescoes at the age of more than 800 years. Interesting to see "choruses", listen to the story as a wooden palace to shift there got notable personage, etc. Also warms the soul thought that these walls was Novgorod veche. Panorama is a small circular room, with small soft "stool", which show a film about Novgorod and on the Cathedral of approximately 10 and 20 minutes respectively. Fresco "the last judgment" it is better to look after. Just be careful, the movie constantly moves round the walls and starts feel dizzy. In my opinion the visitors with weak buccal apparatus or with epilepsy need to be very accurate. Staff very friendly and helpful.

  • When we had been on the other side of river Volkhov, that is, across from the Novgorod Kremlin ( Detinets), we visited also this very nice and interesting by its history, the church of St. Nicholas. I...  more »
  • This is probably the central attraction in Yaroslav's court complex Cathedral founded by Prince Mstislav, the eldest son of Vladimir Monomakh, 1113-1136 Gg. Age second only to Sofia Cathedral. The second name-St Nicholas Cathedral (dedicated to the Cathedral, as you might guess, St. Nicholas Mirlikijskomu, which since ancient times has venerated in Russia). Chargeable (150 rubles per adult), but it's worth it. We were lucky: even Cathedral and no valid but this day there sang-acoustics chic. It is a pity that only the Interior painting of the dome and the walls, mostly, but it stuns the imagination. And in the basement is available a great interactive presentation about Novgorod-take 50 rubles. the price of admission.
