Tula Museum of Samovars, Tula
(3.3/5 based on 300 reviews on the web)
Learn about the history of tea service as a key Russian social ritual at Tula Museum of Samovars. The museum features a variety of samovars, such as models with a removable jug, coffee pots, and portable designs. See the samovar's predecessor--the 18th century "sbitennik," which was a pot used to prepare a sweet drink with herbs and honey. Other interesting exhibits include the five small samovars that belonged to the children of Emperor Nikolas II Romanov, and the samovar presented to Stalin in 1949 for his 70th birthday. If you're ready to bring the tea tradition home, the museum shop sells high-quality, custom-made samovars. • This, say bluntly, Mini Museum, exhibition of samovars, certainly interesting, but the price on the ticket is heavily overstated. Visit the Museum since Ye Tula is certainly necessary, but I advise you strongly not to rush the process of examination, otherwise you start in 5 minutes. And stop your attention there really have what. Many items included in the exhibit are forced to rethink views on the pre-revolutionary culture of tea drinking and dinning. There are such instances of appointment which the modern Everyman unassisted wouldn't guess. Here it is appropriate to get insight from one of the sister Museum of the cult, and will do so through personal contact. Without the latter, as in any Soviet institution, you can count only on the contemptuous indifference. And this is at best. But if you get quantum genuine interest in Tula material history, you not only show an excellent tea past but also inform about the current state of affairs on the samovarnom front. Data is very useful if you intend to purchase a worthy subject of Samovar art.
