  • Totma! How long I was going here! City of churches-ships, totma Baroque, navigators and explorers Ivan Alexandrovich Kuskova-Alaska Explorer and founder of Fort Ross in California. The city was founded in 1137, and prior to the construction of St. Petersburg was a major transportation hub. Seafarers Museum is housed in a former Vhodoierusalimskoj Church (1774-1794), which was built on the money totemskih merchants Gregory and Peter Panovyh. Expedition totemskih merchants-sailors in the Pacific Ocean and the subsequent assimilation of Northern wealth brought merchant totemskomu huge state spending to build unique temples decorated with cartouches. Cartouche-décor element of the Baroque style. Cartridges are a hallmark of the totemskoj architecture. They look like a scroll with swirls, which placed the emblems, icons, wall paintings, inscriptions. Unlike conventional-stucco, carved or drawn-totemskie cartridges are part of masonry walls, lined with brick. The cartouches form entire tiers of the external decoration of the churches and homes. And they're different everywhere! The Museum staff is very interesting and tell about the history of Toma, and of morehodah, the Russian settlements in California, fur trade and Sukhona flows that reverse))) be sure to climb the Bell Tower, admire the views, call zvonarju (you can refine his phone at the Museum) and enjoy the bells only for you, get into the big Bell on the last ringing and make a wish! I highly recommend at least once, but get to the Toma!

  • "Museum of seafarers" and the Temple in which it resides are "calling card" of the city of Galich. The Museum is small but bright and saturated. If you walk through the Museum yourself, many interesting curiosities of bygone epochs can be easy to overlook. And here is the guide is able to convey meanings and value of each exhibit. The most memorable exhibit ... machine for sealing bottles! No, he does not belong to the history of Totemskih sailors. Just in this temple in the middle of the 20-th century was wine-vodka factory, and the remaining "exhibit" very well illustrates the attitude to the temple, which was in the middle of the 20-th century. And the temple is very beautiful. "Baroque Totemskoe"-a unique type of temple architecture. his cartouches and amazing Gothic overlaid. Highly recommend visiting this museum.

  • Russian backwoods, boldly called the town. Do not expect to meet here churches, built in the Baroque style, with carved brick cartouches on the walls. In one of them-Vhodoierusalimskoj-Museum of local merchants-navigators. It turns out locals entered a huge milestone in the history of Russia and the development of Russian America! Even on their coat-black Aleutian Vixen! Take a guide-will not regret! The building is restored in part: in the lower Church-Museum, upper only waits his turn. From the Bell Tower offers spectacular views of the surrounding area.
