Yelagin Island, St. Petersburg

(4.8/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy a day of active fun on Yelagin Island. Named after a founding father of the Russian Freemasonry, the area originally served as an aristocratic retreat. Explore the walking or cycling paths, or rent a boat and set out on the canals and ponds. Dress up in 19th-century costumes and have your photo taken in the antique interior of the palace, which Alexander I commissioned for his mother, Empress Maria. Kids will like the ony rides, miniature trains, and playgrounds. During winter, the island also provides a good setting for skating, sledding, and skiing. Head to the plaza at the western tip for views of the Gulf of Finland. • Noble life of Imperial Russia. Interiors, the atmosphere, the combination of nature and the Palace. Simply amazing. Especially from May to October. Recommend not regret! :-)

  • Visited for the first time here. Couldn't even imagine that there is such an amazing place. Incredibly huge park! The magnificent Palace, frozen ponds and trees in snow constituted a picturesque and fantastic spectacle. So many nimble lured squirrels still nowhere to be seen) And if such beauty in the winter, one can only imagine what the Park during the spring and summer. But there is a slight disappointment-here, where possible, with people trying to peel the money: whether entrance fees, toilet, which is still waiting for you need to find in the vast parkland, café, where the cuisine is far from better quality so just guard. All this has left a small residue.
