Yelagin Island, St. Petersburg

(4.8/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy a day of active fun on Yelagin Island. Named after a founding father of the Russian Freemasonry, the area originally served as an aristocratic retreat. Explore the walking or cycling paths, or rent a boat and set out on the canals and ponds. Dress up in 19th-century costumes and have your photo taken in the antique interior of the palace, which Alexander I commissioned for his mother, Empress Maria. Kids will like the ony rides, miniature trains, and playgrounds. During winter, the island also provides a good setting for skating, sledding, and skiing. Head to the plaza at the western tip for views of the Gulf of Finland. • So the necessary Silence among metropolis. There you can feed the ducks and squirrels. Summer mini Bird Zoo. Ice skating in the winter and on roller skates in other seasons. Benches and beautiful views and a variety of activities. Sorry, the Palace is now under construction.

  • Kirov of Gorky Park on the Elagin island (Saint-Petersburg)-a wonderful park. Entrance only 100 rubles and you can get away from the noise of the city roads, walking on Park trails and admiring the buildings Elaginoostrovskogo Palace (the Palace itself, unfortunately, now closed). You can visit several exhibitions in Konjushennom building, Museum of art glass in the greenhouse enclosure, there are points of hire of sports equipment, winter was a skating rink. We liked that the Park is convenient for visitors: the tracks cleared, there are benches and catering (coffee from 50 to 70 rubles, you can drink mulled wine and s'est' Burger, hot dog or mini pizzas very affordable and delicious). Numerous good feeders in the Park umilili, although none of the proteins we have seen, cold, probably they were). The Zoo also got the eyes, only two cells with crows, one (one?) of three all entertained, shouting: "hold it!", and prosovyvaja twig in the cell of the lattice. The Park is open long, with 6 to 23 (winter), walked without haste
