  • The Museum is a United Atrium 2 neighbouring buildings-mansions Kshesinskaya and banker Brandt. Both built in the early 20th century in the art nouveau style (architect von Gauguin and Melzer respectively). Lovers of style, you can just walk on buildings, admiring the mouldings, staircases, stained glass Windows, the few preserved entirely. Many thematic tours at the Museum, and you can choose the theme. The Kshesinskaya mansion, a large living room with Bay window-winter garden concerts, a very popular evening lectures on the history of Russia. In the room next door is the exposition to the mistress of the mansion. On 3-th floor-all about Lenin and the Bolsheviks, in this House, including the recreated the October coup leader's Cabinet. It turns out that the Ballerina was unlawfully Kshesinskaya mansion busy in spring 1917 g. soldiers of military unit (the first expropriation?), and then transferred to the Bolsheviks for the placement of the central authorities and publishers. Therefore, Tchaikovsky came here and worked from April to June. Here was a study of Zinoviev, hence together they had gone into the spill, where they spent the summer and early autumn. Zinoviev was subsequently vymarano name from the history of the USSR. Brandt mansion occupies an exhibition telling the story of our country. Made in a modern way, clearly, a lot of inter-active elements involved in the action.

Where to stay in St. Petersburg

For luxury hotels with a price tag to match, you can't beat the city's historical heart--Palace Square--and Nevsky Prospekt, the main avenue that connects the square to the Neva River. The area around St. Isaac's Cathedral, at the west end of Nevsky Prospekt, also offers a great selection of luxury and mid-range options. If you want to see the other side of the city, consider staying on Vasilyevsky Island, at the mouth of the river. Increased competition means that St. Petersburg now offers a wide range of inexpensive but funky hostels scattered throughout the city.
