Summer Garden, St. Petersburg

4.6
#5 of 110 in Parks in St. Petersburg
Stroll among large oaks, rare flowers, fountains, and marble statues at Summer Garden. One of the few sites preserved since the time of Peter the Great, the garden was designed by the tsar and opened in 1704. Admire statues by 17th- and 18th-century Italian sculptors, which represent mythological themes, gods, and heroes of antiquity. Take a close look at the 18th-century iron fence and the circle of iron chairs made by 12 different blacksmiths. The garden also features the Summer Palace of Peter the Great, a coffee house, and a teahouse. • It's in the historic district, so it isn't far. The walkways are straight and fenced. There are fountains and statues. There is a coffee shop. It was calm and quiet. Locals were seen there, with....  more »

  • Gardens are beautiful. A sense of peacefulness fills you as you stroll through the gardens. The tea garden is lovely. A little pricey but good. Well maintained. Free to the public, and totally out rates the botanical gardens. Easy access from Metro or bus routes and tram. Note they are closed on Tuesdays.
  • No words can describe this place. My childhood hangout. I keep coming back to it to feel alive... it's in amazing shape after the reconstruction. Must visit
  • It’s good for tourists like us who has become “tired” of touring too much. Sometimes we put ourselves in such positions where too much journeys starts to rub us out. Summer garden is a peaceful place where you can put a brake and relax for the whole day. Just slow down a little bit and enjoy the fountains while breathing in the life. The pic was taken from the other side of the garden.
  • The place where I spends days as a child. It is beautiful in any time of the year. Although I like is the view before restoration works. There has been more space.
  • A very green place, very refreshing for a walk, plenty of historical items all around. Clean spotless, well maintained. Beautifull...
