St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral, St. Petersburg

With its gold-domed roofs and gilded interior, it's hard to say whether St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral is more ornate inside or out. The Baroque Russian Orthodox cathedral has always been intimately associated with the Russian Navy, as evidenced by the upper church's memorial plaques for crews of sunken Soviet marines. Built on the bank of the Kryukov Canal from 1753 to 1762, the massive cathedral can accommodate up to 5,000 people. Consider attending a mass to see it in all its glory. You can appreciate the cathedral's exterior from a boat cruise along the canal, or from the viewpoint of the bell tower. • Beautiful Cathedral with a unique Bell Tower Commander-in-chief over the Sava. Tranquility, old icons. The Cathedral is located in the Centre, but well worth the walk up to him, walking along the Canal Griboedova.

  • The Mariinsky Theatre's square in the Center or move towards a Nikolai Admiralty or in any way connected with your party shoot drill was elaborated in Russia to operate even when the age is one of the Cathedral. The reason is that a long periods of time by the sea Navy and stakeholders for the purpose of blessing and good hope. It's an amazing job! We know that there is no other historical religious oppression of the country of Socialist policies. And the funny thing is that can use it, wedding sneak their honeymoon with the Church priests received the baptism. hospitality Still, mass, sometimes when you visit, at the time Russia Orthodox a cappella mass of beautiful harmony is where you can listen to. • Just visited this church for the first time. The clergy here were very nice and receptive. The ceremonies were incredible. Also just a magnificent church.
  • Another astonishing cathedral in the city, definitely worth taking the time to visit and admire its gorgeous architecture. Free entrance, it's assign active temple. Most of the interiors are restricted for tourists.
  • Not to be visited by large group of foreigners - you will be asked to stay closer to entrance (easy to understand but not easy to accept), so to go inside it is better to come alone and looks as Russian as you can ;-)
  • One of the most beautiful churches in St Petersburg. Even nicer after snow.
  • Great example of russian baroque architecture.
